I just want to say that I find it funny that black women even wonder why they are the single most unmarried racial group of women in America . The reason seems quite clear to me, BLACK WOMEN LIMIT THEMSELVES IN THE AREA OF DATING AND MARRIAGE.
If you are a black woman that has found love with a black man, this is not meant for you; if your black man treats you with love, dignity, and respect then hold onto him, he is a good man. This is for all of the black women that remain single and still profess to only date black men and simply shut all other options down. I do not understand that mentality anymore. Is it because those black women are holding grudges against white men because of slavery? Ummm, honeys that is long over and it is time to move on and stop placing the blame on men who had nothing to do with that!
I have never had a problem building friendships with whites and I never understood why black girls always had to separate themselves from white boys and girls in school, just so that they would appear "down" or "hood." I can even remember being tormented because of my proper English and white friends, apparently I was not black enough for the black girls at my old school.
If you are a mother, please hear me out at least, do not put that burden on your daughter. I cannot understand why black girls are expected by the black family to only marry a black man when black boys are given the liberty to date and marry whom ever they want and are even encouraged by their mothers and fathers to marry a non-black girl. The Disney movie Princess and the Frog needs the support of black women and their daughters. If you let your daughters watch Pocahantas then let them watch Tiana, what is the difference? Oh yeah, the difference is that THIS time the black girl gets the Prince.
