Me used to date smaddy dat didn't eat pork. Nuff time me eat one ham sandwich fore me go ovah him yaad. Of course me would greet him wid a big wet kiss.

Dat was when me was in me early 20's. Me ooden do dat now.

Tanya, I think the answer to your question is more relative than it is absolute. The way I look at it is like this: if my <span style="font-style: italic">not</span> eating pork is more important to him <span style="font-style: italic">than</span> my eating pork is to me, then I would not eat pork. If I fell in love with someone who genuinely abhors pork and/or other foods for religious reasons then yes, I would give up eating pork. It would be one way I could show him respect.

So Tanya, it is what is more important to each other at this juncture in the relationship.

The reverse could be true, yes. But only if it is MORE important to you to eat pork than it is for him to not eat it. I don't know how else to put this...

Also, IMHO, not everything in every relationship is a compromise. Some things are non-negotiable in a relationship, and you'll just have to accept that I suppose. If you can't accept it, then it is not the relationship for you.

How is this different from any other food type... For example he does not like anything Turkey but I do... I am cutting out beef but him love it gone to bed. No need for the fuss ..I eat what I want you eat what you want... Or dat too simple

My Dad gave his wife living hell over the years over this pork thing and I think it is rubbish. Shi undastan dat im noh eat it soh shi noh prepare it fi im but if shi waan buy wan slab a pork meat fi harself mi noh know wey ima badda har bout it fah.
