Yes Barbara did make it known that she would like Ann to keep her ashes and stay around Ann's house. Ann said she would like that idea too.

Carol wants to take her mothers' ashes to their home country so Barbara can be buried next to her divorced husband.


Carol is mentally off in some way it seems but which way I do not know. Ann has issues too cause her approach to people is very much in your face kinda way and has a way of pissing people off that she deals with so mi haffi thing is a family trait sorry to say.

Mi feel seh a ransom between you &amp; me. Carol just afta the money.

At the funeral Carol came with her husband (no one knew she had gotten married) and her father in law. Father in Law spoke to Ann and said he never even knew Carol had a mother until last year, much less knowing about Carol's sister &amp; family.

A daughter left just £1 from her mother's £300,000 estate has failed in a High Court claim that her sister had forged the will.

Deputy Judge Edward Bartley Jones QC said it was 'most unfortunate' that Angela Salmon had made the allegations against her sister, Jacqueline, who looked after her mother for the last 17 years of her life.

'Doubly so in this case as Angela has had the benefit of public funding to make the forgery allegation,' said the judge.

If Angela had proved the allegation, Ethel Lucille Hayles would have died intestate and she would have been entitled to a seventh of her estate.

But in the will, Mrs Hayles said Angela had (sic) 'cause the death of me' and that she had borrowed money which was never repaid.

She said in her will that Angela had had her 'fair share of my assets to last her a life time', leaving the bulk of her estate to Jacqueline.

Angela claimed the will, made a year before Mrs Hayles died in 2005, was a forgery by Jacqueline and that her mother did not know or approve of its contents.

Mrs Hayles was born in Jamaica in 1934 and had five children there with Lenford Salmon before moving to the UK in the early 60s.

They had three more children, including Angela, 41, and Jacqueline, 45.

The judge said the relationship with Mr Salmon ended around 1968 and with her new partner, Astley Whitter, she bought a house in Penge, south-east London, in 1982.

Jacqueline still lives at the address where Mr Whitter also lived, 'entirely separately', said the judge, after his relationship with the mother also broke down in 1990.

Mr Whitter died in 2006.

'When Jacqueline was very young she suffered severe burns to her upper body when her nightdress caught fire on a paraffin heater at home,' said the judge.

'Jacqueline says that, as a result of this, the deceased was always very protective towards her and this was the start of a special relationship.'

When the mother was made redundant on the grounds of ill health in 1989, Jacqueline lived with her as a friend and companion, said the judge.

'As well as caring for the deceased she cooked, washed, ironed, cleaned and shopped for the deceased.'

He said he found Jacqueline a 'careful and reliable' witness but Angela was 'unreliable and unconvincing'.

Angela and her mother were estranged for many years and she had been lent money that was not repaid, despite her denials, said the judge.

In the will, Jacqueline was left the Penge house and 60 per cent of her mother's other property.

Mrs Hayles had land in Jamaica and cash and insurance policies worth around £125,000.

The will continues: 'To my young daughter Angela Salmon she has cause the death of me, I leave her one pound.'

Jacqueline was 'an honest person' and not one who would forge the signature on her mother's will, said the judge.

He found that the will was valid and the mother did not die intestate.
