psychologically she thinks being with him she's "safe" he's never going anywhere because she's a prize that he got, he'll cherish her, unlike a man as equally goodlooking, too much of a competition there.
The problem is the wutliss man's self esteem is lifted and he then gains a sense of entitlement (well if wan bway like mi can get a lady like her, I am god), incidentally, while this is happening he has to think of ways to keep her, and the only way to do that is to make her less desirable, he can physically abuse her or mentally, either way it will start to show on the outside.

u know i never even had physically ugly in my mind when i wrote this I'm sorry, I was speaking of his character overall. the the potential to become abusive always exists in these unbalanced relationships as the need to exert control ovr the other is almost always prevalent.
