exactly ceabee. this is not the year 1800. &quot;roles&quot; are no longer 'set in stone'. it is all dependent on the circumstances....

if one person works outside the home and the other is a homemaker, well then in that case regardless of gender it <span style="font-style: italic">is</span> their 'job' to do the housework. that's fair.

but if both are working outside the home, then it's only fair that evryone who lives in the home shares what it takes to keep up the place.

my folks had a great system. they traded off cooking dinner each night, so every other day, one of them got chance to just come home and plop dung relax after work while the other cooked. they did the same with other housework &amp; cleaning too - everybody pitched in and did dem fair share. same with we kids, we had assigned chores and traded them off each week, so nobody always got stuck with always having to do the yucky ones.

Mi dear...mi noh understand what yu disagreeing wid...but let me say this...

Some women want to be 85% homemakers, for example,
but also expect the men to also come home from breadwinning and be 85% involved in the house. Dat cannot be right.

In other words, it's not something very measurable...so we need to just get on with our roles....<span style="font-size: 8pt">or get an affordable housekeeper.</span>

Imo, in most cases is the bare minimum them asking the man to do.

wash some dishes...move a couch ...pick up after themselves.

women still tek on the majority of the housework, even when them work outside the home.

in fact, i agree to disagree with the entire concept of &quot;roles&quot; in the first place. there are no more 'roles'. the way we were raised is: if any someobdy sees something needs doing, well, just do it - not sit on yuh behine waiting for somebody else to take care ah it.

<span style="font-style: italic">eta: and now that i think on it, not in my brother's house either. he's as involved as his wife in doing whatever needs doing - whether its taking out the gawbig, changin diaper, cooking meal, doin dishes or cleanin the bathroom.... together they share all that needs doing to run house and raise family. </span>.

However, roles are ever so important in defining what people need to be <span style="text-decoration: underline">responsible for</span> and yes, they are set in stone.

What's not set in stone is the consideration people will apply to their roles in having an efficiently and smoothly - run home
as you mentioned below.</span>
