"open marriage"

A female friend of mine informs me she has an "open marriage",they`ve been married for 8 years,she is 30,....dont know how old he is,they are allowed to have sex with other people,and have laid down some ground rules....

No falling in love.
no kids.
and dont "do" family members.

I thought to myself, they are either being incredibly brave,or incredibly stupid.

She has however revealed some "stuff" to me that makes me think....they are either being incredible brave..........................or incredibly stupid.

Incarcerated committment to one partner and no open doors to put ones head in, even for curiousity?

Open marriages are okay provided both couples are mature about it and can deal MATURELY with the risks that may occur. If those are their ground rule, then I share the same thoughts.... either they are very brave or very stupid. Seem like they need to assess and fix what is not occurring in their marriage... Or get out if it is not fixable.

Let not kid ourselves most people no longer believe in god, they don't believe marriage is holy sacrament(sp)then why should both parties be faithful? Sometimes I wonder why they get married to begin with.

does that extend to sex outside of marriage overall?

in other words is ALL sex outside of marriage a sin?
what about sex within marriage for pleasure...

could not some argue that god sees sex as strictly a pro-creational tool and using it for pleasure is sinful?
lust?---spilling the seed uselessly?

am i getting too deep here?
