I understand both sides.

But I'd rather not have your dead mom's ring - especially considering the circumstances of her death and the real and similar parallels to the current situation.

He should've given her a new ring all of her own with no bags attached. He could've given the mother's ring as an aside, later down the line.

Its the norm for some couples (either of the 2) to wear rings that belonged to family members (alive or dead)

Wouldnt exactly say that,the royal family enjoys untold wealth and privileges,not every royal marriage can be judged by the experience of charles and diana,princess diana knew exactly what she was letting herself into,she knew about camilla before they got married,and knew that her role was simply to provide heirs while charles kept his concubine.
All the queens children has enjoyed marriages that are no different than other non royal marriages,there are divorces,break-ups,and infidelities in all aspects of society,the royal family are only humans too.
