It Costs to be Boss

I was talking to a man who is in his late 60s. The conversation was basically about modern relationships and how the economics of who is bringing home the most money has shifted in a lot of cases. I was expecting him to have more traditional views on roles, but he thought that whoever is making the most money should have higher ranking in decision making.

How do you feel about that statement?

I have no idea.

I attributed my not getting it to some sort of generation gap combined with a misunderstanding of what that generation believes.

His wife never worked so yes, he makes/made more money.

OK, now that being said, I still would have thought if he wasn't bringing home a dime that he would have leaned towards man being the major decision maker. It just never occurred to me that the whole system was money as opposed to gender based.
