The lost art of the 'Love Letter'

Back in the day, writing a love letter was de rigueur for any man who was serious about courting a woman. Now that we communicate in 140 letters or less, send e-cards with pre-packaged verses (or even send pictures of our genitals...how romantic ), have we lost the art of writing a love letter ? Have any of the ladies here received one lately ? Any of the men here sent one in recent memory ?

I've received romantic letters and the disgusting genitalia pics...

To this day I still receive romantic notes (sent via SMS) from a former paramour whom to this day after breaking up 17 yrs ago still has that thing for me. I think today we just have an affinity of quoting Frost, Auden and Dickinson to each.

I've received and sent my share of romantic letters. It is refreshing and old school but that's me.. a hopeless romantic who likes to be charmed and will bring on the charm in return.

ahhhh the love letter

I boarded in Kgn with a friend of the family during HS

My amore lived in Mobay and used to send letters express (signature required) EVERY DAY.

Lawd the woman I boarded with used to CUSS every time because she had bad arthritis and had to walk to the gate to sign for the letters every day.

The last man I seriously dated could put down some serious lyrics in a love letter. Granted, he sent them via email, but that didn't take a thing away from them. Plus, his handwriting seriously sucked so it was probably better typewritten lol. I have yet to delete them even though I think we're done now.

Prior to him, it had not been since my late teens that I got love letters that good. And those were from my boyfriend who decided to join the marines. I didn't take his that seriously because I knew he was lonely and wanted to get mail in return. Also, I wasn't sure that a bunch of them hadn't gotten together and sent the same letter to their women at home.

Anyway, I like receiving them and I like writing them if I'm feeling really open. Once you get inside my head, all of the rest will follow.

I write poetry ..and still write them when the &quot;love spirit&quot; moves me.
I don't get letters per se, but I get hand written notes

But you are right about e-card and dem tings. I am guilty if going that lazy route sometimes. **hand ova mi heart*** I pramise to do betta fram dis day farwod.

I've heard that many women rarely throw away old love letters.
