Accepting Compliments

for the first time...I simply said thank you to some flattering remarks from my manager regarding my work...no down playing what I did...no "i could not have made it happen w/o dis wan an dat wan" speech... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img].just thank you [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] I actually typed the down play comment and erased it [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Only when I went to live in USA did I learn how to accept compliments with a simple, no frills 'Thank You'.

Before that it would be, "Dis ole dress...you know from when ah have it?" on being complimented for my garb...

or, for a somewhat difficult task...

"Really, you cyaan do that?" [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]"It noh hard".

Yu right: "Thank you" is good and gracious.

I agree 7s...but I think a lot of us have been raised wid this "don't be boastfull" mantra an we let that spill over eento accepting compliments..

ok arjen. me understand the boastful sinting, but u know something..
whether u say it, act it, or noh act it, u going to come off as boastful..
so enjoy u life, and one of those enjoyments should be levied on the moment when your boss says..

Recently, I had to tell someone this, and u know, being human, sometimes its hard to tell someone what great work they have done or is being dun.
As u can figa by now...I am an employer...
and moments do come, when u come face to face with an employee, and u haffe seh..

So, tek it from me, as as hard as it is to tek a compliment, its sometimes hard fe de boss fe give one..
Tek it as an honor well deserved, cus I am sure, u (and whomever gets the compliments,) have earned it! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
