If a couple is married but separated how long should one wait before announcing to the world and them teenage pickney that they are in a relationship with a new person (other than them spouse)

The new person was not the cause of the Martial breakdown

The problem is kids are not stupid. We tend to underestimate their intelligence all when dem a 5. Be an adult and just explain to the kids what mommy and daddy going through and explain the nature of the other relation (serious/ friendship/ dating/ exploring) . The will respect your for that.

People muss stap shelter kids fram dem tings here. They too will have to go through the same life's ups and down when they grow up . Let them see how you are dealing with it as long as you don't neglect being a parent to dem.

I think it depends on whether or not the parents truly intend to get divorced or are just taking a time out.

I don't have children but when I got separated, it was just a brief interval I took before merrily skipping down the path to divorce.

I think I'd keep the children away from this rebound person which is what I consider the first person you hook up with after a separation or divorce. You should spin your wheels a little bit and date several people before going on lock-down again.

It's highly likely the children already know, but if you can stand him for 6 months or to a major holiday then introductions are in order. I think things would be a whole lot easier for everybody to handle if the parents actually divorced. Separation sounds too temporary.

there is no right time for anything...moving on,announcing to kids that there is a new SO...the conditions have to be right and the thing is they are perfect right so you have to use your discretion and choose a time in your child's life when they are less susceptible to emotional trauma...furthermore...i don't think it is appropriate to bring other ppl around ur kids until the marriage has been legally terminated... but that is JMHO...

What's the rush to involve the kids in this ? Seems like they (the kids that is) have more than enough to process already.

One is fighting to save the marriage....the other posted his new relationship status on FB where that person has their kids as friends and can see.......
