At what point, is it ok to drop by unannounced?

I am not really an unannounced type. I think it’s kind of rude and nosy to not call before you come. I wasn’t always that way though, but that was only with friends.

I think I changed not because I developed more manners but because I don’t like random stop-bys done to me.

My question is not about friendships but relationships though. When (if ever) is it fine to swing by at any time day or night at will?

i think if you in a committed relationship and you live close by nuttin wrong wid dropping in unannounced. but if you live far is kinda creepy to jus drop by..seem more like checking up ting

Never. People in successful relationships should allow each other private space and don’t intrude. Personal space must be respected.

If someone in a relationship starts showing up day or night unannounced, it would make me suspect that person is:
a) disrespectful
b) has some trust issues
c) controlling

That's not the point.

Point is to call ahead and say you'd like to drop by, give the time when they can expect you, and ask if it is OK.

This shows respect.

i understand what you are saying....but what is a respectful amount of notice...if i'm in the neighbourhood unexpectedly and called would it be reasonable if i only gave 5 minutes notice or should i forgo the drop by because i was not able to give sufficient notice?

Can't think of a specific time frame -depends on the people involved I guess.

That sounds reasonable to me. Like Gen said, it depends on the person.

When I give you a key, it is then okay to drop by unannounced but still best to call first so yu dont get yu feelings hurt.

When mi living in his house him free to drop by . Fi all odda peeple, <span style="font-weight: bold">NEVER</span>, is dem only option.

I think before everybody was walking with cell phones, it was a little more forgivable offense.

Now, there is really no good excuse to just knock without calling first. I think when I really broke was when I came home from work to find brother, wife, and two children sitting outside waiting on me. They thought I was home and not answering the door. There are so many ways I can discuss how that annoyed me, but that was it. So you thought you'd [censored] sit-in? Or &quot;out&quot; rather.

If I'm in a monogamous relationship, I don't really have an issue with an unannounced visit, but I just wouldn't do it. Just be prepared for the Tulip that answers the door. (I recall a full body masque incident.)
