If the person was close enough to me that I got called at work, then I suspect they would have to figure out a way to carry on the presentation without me.

You know, I have seen a lot of people who put work first in their lives through the years. I have seen more of them kicked to the curb like yesterday's news rather than rewarded for their loyalty. The truth is that nobody is indispensable. I think as a client that I might have doubts about hooking up with a team of people who couldn't function if one team member went missing. That shows some mighty poor planning for something so important to their company. Ever heard of plan B?

At any rate, I hope I am never confronted with this dilemma.

Like Sandi when I got the call that my father died yep right in the front of the place mi just drop mi head on the desk and start bawling ... Last Saturday was the 7 year anniversary of that day and it is still so hard. While I didn't go home (to my family home) right away I had to go straight to the doctor (I was 7 months pregnant) cause I was a mess and needed to be medicated. I pray my mother lives to be 100 and all my sibling so I die before them so I never have to deal with that again.

I think this is how most people feel. On the other hand, I think too though about the people I 'live' with most of the day who rely on me, and (in the example) how I wouldnt want to leave them com,pletely high and dry- even though they would certainly understand.
