(I saw the movie Bridesmaids and the roomie got a tattoo of a mexican worm that snaked from her belly to her back ) If your spouse wanted to get a tattoo or pierce a body part- do you think this should be discussed before its done? What if s/he wants a really horrid tattoo that will be 'in your face'- would you give your opinion?

How about haircuts- like if the woman wants to do a big chop, but he loves her long hair and is only attracted to long haired women, or if he decided he wanted to go completely Mr. Clean bald

I do not think a haircut needs to be discussed beforehand by man or woman. It's only temporary. Piercings aren't a biggie either because the jewelry can removed.

I think more permanent changes like a tat should be discussed to get the other person's opinion but not to ask for permission. I mean if the man wants to get ear discs with a matching lip disc, he's free to do it but give me a heads up first because that's a deal breaker lol.

haircuts- naw, as tulip says hair grows back
actually if it is a small tat, piercing I don't think it needs much discussion but a major piercing (discs as tulip described) and visible tattoos should be discussed

I agree with you both, but for discussion sake- what about if you know your hubby/SO is attracted to long hair, but you want a Halle Berry pixie cut

Or what if you know he hates weaves and false hair- would you consider getting one and if so how would you go about telling him- or wd you just do a big surprise and hope it grows on him

For any tattoo though, you wouldnt wonder where his head is? Whats making him think this is a good idea at his age? How about a nose ring even better- if he decided he could not live one more day without a tongue ring!! Let's hear that dialogue...

If you know that your spouse is <span style="font-weight: bold">really</span> bothered/annoyed/is totally against tattoos, why would you go out and get one without first discussing it with your spouse? Just to tick him or her off? Just because you want to make a statement? If so, then the issue is bigger than the tattoo, isn't it?

But if you don't know what your spouse's feelings are about tattoos <span style="font-weight: bold">and</span> you have a sense that he or she might really care about this, then why not do the respectful thing and consult with your spouse?

Ditto for piercings and haircut.

Yeah it should be our decision but of course the owner of the body has veto power.
