Have you guys heard about the case against the footballer who is being charged with failing to disclose his HIV status with his partners?

He's HIV+. He's had numerous affairs it seems after he was informed of his status back in '03. By law he's obligated to inform his partners of his status if the possibility arises that there will be intercourse without a condom. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif[/img]

Now at least two women have come forward to say that he failed to inform them.

But this is the part that gets me: He's married. He's sleeping with these women. One woman said she asked him if he's been tested, he said yes and that he was negative.

In these crazy days, it's not worth the risk: it's a simple test - I don't see the big deal.

No matter how great he looks, you can trust him. He might be positive and not even know it himself! This is a situation we can actually control. He doesn't want to take the test, let him walk. It's not worth your life. Women need to step up fi reel.

REGINA – It's now up to a judge to decide whom to believe: a former Canadian Football Leaguer who denies knowingly exposing his sexual partners to HIV, or his two former lovers who claim he did.

In closing statements Friday, Trevis Smith's defence lawyers argued that the one-time Saskatchewan Roughrider's credibility shouldn't be doubted just because people may not approve of his adulterous womanizing.

"Mr. Smith is a frivolous man. He had a lot of women in his life," lawyer Marie-Helene Giroux told provincial court Judge Kenn Bellerose. "But this is no reason to disbelieve."

But the Crown argued that Smith gave a muddled account of the events in question, while his female accusers told "complete" stories supported by the testimony of public health nurses.

"If I could explain what his evidence was, I would give you some details, but I can't," prosecutor Bill Burge told the judge. "I would just suggest that he wasn't forthcoming as a credible witness."
