Giving of yourself

Many people would not hesitate to say yes if asked to donate a kidney to a terminally ill relative, spouse or close friend.

Suppose however, you were approached by a couple who were close relatives and they told you that they had been trying without success to have a child and found out that they couldn't and wanted you to consider donating an egg/sperm. Would you do it ?

For my sisters - yes. Now if any of my brothers were to ask me to help out their wives, I'm pretty sure I'd say no...

If I didnt have kids of my own yet, I couldnt/wouldnt do it. It would be too hard to watch someone raise a child I helped create only to have none of my own.

probably--- a mean it is an egg in my case -- the couple would be choosing me as we are family &amp; they had a desire to keep similar dna in their next generation

Only if one of the adults can't keep their mouths shut. This is a problem today, some people think that children need to know 'everything'.

Anyway, infertility is apparently far more common than you would suspect, prolly because is not something that couples, especially women, like to talk about.

Many of these couples turn to sperm banks or egg donors depending on who has the problem.

Wouldn't it be better to keep the genes in the family ?

if de man weh you madda used to deal wid could not breed har...and mr joe grind come a buss it up de first time.....you are now 15 years old and realise you dont look nothing likr you step dad. wouldnt you not wanna know who u REAL BLOOD daddy is? And how would you feel if you madda hide dat from you for so long?

no i wouldn't do it for family, friend or foe. there are plenty of kids out there to be adopted. people selfish. the reason they'd want their own flesh and blood is selfishness. if they really wanted a child to love they'd adopt one. my view. but i have kids, so i don't know this yearning and can't understand it altho i'm capable of pretending i do.
