T was asked to leave har job after a year cah she did pregnant again. Smaddy ansa mi dis. Daht nuh illegal fi fire smaddy cah dem is pregnant but unmarried [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif[/img] Of course dem said she was a horrible teacher and di pickney dem wasnt learnin a ting, but all di gossips was about har being pregnant.

Anyway, T was pregnant again and decided after much rangling with the new baby daddy (him cuss har and said it wasnt fi im chile), that it wasnt a good idea to keep this baby. She felt she was just getting back on her feet and with her job dismissal, money would again be an issue. So she decided to have an abortion. She asked me to go with her to get rid of the baby and I told her that I couldnt. I dont believe in abortion (personally), it isnt what I would do, but mi not gwine shame one neddah ooman daht tink is right fah dem. She went to some family planning place and had the abortion. I am not sure what happened to new baby daddy, but I didnt hear T speak about him after the abortion.

Well T has the abortion and as things would have it she has gone back on Social Services. She does not get the amount of assistance that she did the first time as the State of Maryland has cut back dramitically on what they once gave out. T was on assistance for about 18 months or so.

During this time, T had serveral close calls with evictions, and diconnected power, bill collectors, the car she was driving at the time was also repossessed. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/helpsmilie.gif[/img] T also put on about 75 pounds. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

Because of Babygirl A, I always stayed in contact with T. And T always called for bailouts, when things got out of control with the bills. Now let me ake things clear, I NEVER GAVE T ANY CASH DIRECTLY, but when things were really bad, I would pay utilities, so that they could stay on. I would assist with back rent, so that they wouldnt get evicted. When Babygirl look like smaddy fram bush, mi would buy har clothes ahn tings. I did this all for Babygirl A. I never asked that T pay me back. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ideathink.gif[/img]

I would have gone with her just for the support, it doesn't mean you agree with her at all.

As for firing someone because they are pregnant...that is totally illegal. Now i'm sure this company isn't stupid enough to put that as their reason for firing her......

If she was such a bad teacher why not fire her then and there...why wait till she was pregnant?

I would def. seek some legal advice....

yuh know CB mi cyan memba enuh. mi tink it was a neighborhood charter school. but surely dem muss follow same rules as di nex school.

At my prep school in Jamaica, which is Catholic, any unwedded teacher that gets pregnant is instantly fired. I believe i heard of it occurring in the Public schools in Jamaica too...

well so far T nuh sound like the kinda smaddy that would investigate/take legal action

Now as time would have it...T has sunk into more financial mess. She claims that she was having difficulty finding a job. She is getting bigger in size [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] and Babygirl A is getting older and more [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70377-loveeyes.gif[/img] I was able to hook T up with a job at the local aquatics center were I did volunteer work at the time. The job didnt pay much by any means, but it is a job, none the less. No skills required (just light filing, answering phones etc). T worked there and as a matter of fact, she still works there now (part time I think).

During this time T says that she has found religion [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img] . She begins to attend church and things. She decided to have Babygirl A christened finally. She asks me to be Babygirl A's godmother. Anyways, mi tek di oath of godmother. Suh mi loveup Babygirl A. Mi decided that since I am a teacher that is what I will be for Babygirl A. Mi tek har to museums, theater, mi check har report card fram school when she get dem. Mi tek har to restaurants weh have table cloths and more dan one knife and fork. Babygirl A go wid me on vacation. Mi tek har shopping, mi spoil har on xmas and birthday. She hang out wid my relatives them. She spend the nights at my house. I go to her soccer games. Di people inna San San, Portland tink she is my daughter [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] das how much time she go wid mi ah yaad. OK...oonu get di point.

Now T never seemed to have any issues with what I would do for Babygirl A. T always said, "I want my daughter to have a life better than mine, and seeing the world and experiencing things is great" Go figure...
