I can't quite grasp this idea of husband's being abusive to their wives. I've talked about one of my friend's who's husband was running around with this Hispanic woman. He's not helping with bills, their two kids etc. They have been together about 8 years and married for about 4. I went to pick her and her kids up week before last, and was shocked when she told me that he had chocked her in front of their 4 and 5 year old boys. I asked her if she called the police, and she told me no she didn't want to make waves cause they have an interview next month for her green card. He has another woman and every Friday he has to go to Philly, he missed his youngest son's birthday party last Saturday. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img] To tell the truth I can't remember him being at any I've been too. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

She said this is the first time he has laid his hands on her, the kids can't stand him after they have seen what he has done to their mom. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif[/img] I have always dated the quiet type of guy and can't even imagine someone putting hands on me. I remember when I got married one of my cousins told me if my husband ever even thought about laying hands on me to give him a call. The women in my family don't play that mess either and would have no problems jumping in the car if I needed them. I never understood this either! In fact, I have had friends in abusive relationships and they always say "it's not that bad" or "it's not that often"... what kind of crap answer is that!

A friend of our family is a victim of domestic violence. To make matters worse her husband is a high ranking police officer. So calling the police for help is not an option for her. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img]

I tell every young woman who will listen to me "be very careful if you consider marrying a police officer, do some detective work and make sure his father did not abuse his mother, if his father was an abuser then chances are he could be as well."


My own sister was a victim of domestic violence for years. Lucky for her she finally said "enough is enough" and had her ex husband arrested. She has been on her own with her three children for a few years now and while it has been a tough go for her she has never regretted what she did to finally put and end to the abuse.

agreed! in fact, a lot men in authoritive positions like that, tend to show their force on their women

My first husband was abusive - once. He said he didn't remember hitting me. Ha!! I told him he might want to think twice about doing it again and then going to sleep, because I would kill him while he was sleeping. He never touched me again. He did leave me with 5 kids to take care of, but he actually did me a favor. I met a very nice man, and sorry to disagree Milo, but he was a police officer and treated me with kid gloves. He never abused me. He died in 1998. My father was also a police officer, my sister is retired from Portland Police and her husband is also retired from there. I guess my family knew how to cope with the authority, because there was no violence from any of them.

Over 20 years ago when my parents first dated...not sure if i was born yet but Mom said Dad and her had an argument...i think he smoked so wasn't right in the head and made the mistake of hitting her. Now my Mom is all of 5" and quite tiny at the time but she took up a BIG rock stone because they lived by the beach and she attacked him....He never passed his place with her ever again! Sometimes you just have to fight back or walk away...

I know this is the first time he has laid hands on her, I told her it won't be the last. It's so much that I can do, she's going to have to come to the point where enough is enough. He's not doing anything but taking up space if you ask me. Mystery today surrounded a British man who stalked his US ex-girlfriend and killed her before turning the gun on himself.

'Jonathan Rowan', 41, killed Rebecca Griego, 26, a researcher at the University of Washington, on Monday after becoming obsessed with her after their relationship ended.

He has reportedly used at least three aliases and two passports and used to entertain friends with stories of being a professional ice skater, the heir to a hotel empire and a fugitive from an IRA hit squad.

Miss Griego had become so concerned about his behaviour that last month she had obtained a court restraining order banning him from coming within 500ft of her or her sister, Rachel, it was reported.

In the order she said Rowan had been threatening them for 18 months and that in a drunken rage in January he threw a glass candlestick at her before tackling and punching her.

It was reported she wrote: "He is now on the run. he robbed my current room-mates this morning and called me to tell me I cannot find him but he can find me (knows my place of work) and to look over my shoulder because I would see him again."

Trying to escape from Rowan, Miss Griego changed her cell phone number and moved house.

She also posted his picture around her office so colleagues could serve him with the papers if he showed up.

It was reported that in an an email to colleagues she said: "I am having a serious stalker issue right now and the only place the person knows to find me is at my sister's home or the office.

"He should not be dangerous to any of you, just me and my family."

She also described him as wearing glasses that had a blue/orange tint and wore jeans with a button-up shirt.

She said he spoke with a slight English accent and would stutter when under stress.

It was reported that two weeks ago she had lodged an official complaint with police that he had made two death threats against her.

International police agency Interpol has been asked to provide verification of exactly who he was.

Rowan entered the US legally with a green card in 1996, but whether the passports belonged to him was less clear, US police said.

The kids are being affected now, they keep asking her is thier daddy going to kill her. No he's Black American my friend is from Tanzania, seems like he is trying to use reverse tactics now. I"m sure he's angry because she's has stopped sleeping with him. But what should that matter if he goes out of town to be with this other woman?

I had a 3 year relationship with one, and yes indeed his dad did abuse his mom (and him), and he did finally hit me. I told him once I could forgive, twice not. He did it a second time eventually and I threw him out (we were living in my apartment).

I was lucky, he didn't bother me any more after that, but I also knew not to mess around with reconciling or "one last meeting to talk" - that's when stuff like in the article above happens....

FYI - With evidence of violence (police report) the Green card process would have been easier. Next time, report the BASTARD and Immigration would not penalize you. A friend of mine "wife" lick him inna him head with a pot, they got divorce and he still got the green card based on her filing!

Milo, she should call the cops, and if he is not arrested she can go to the Newspaper and or Radio/Television station they will not want the publicity. Document when she goes to the Doctor or Hospital let them know her husband abuse her. The Police services will not want the publicity I know what am talking about.
