my mom is white my dad is black some how i have always feel more connected to the jamaica side of my family when i am with my moms family i feel like i am forcing myself to fit in, even though i have a pure white half sister my moms first child from a previous marriage, who some how thinks she is a black woman trapped in the body of a white woman, she feels at home when she is with the jamaican side of the family, she fits right in but for me and my other brothers and sister we always just think we dont belong to the white side of our family

I have heard this before from interracial children, that they identify more with one side or the other...

Then I have a friend who is from both black parents, but she grew up in an all white neighborhood and she identifies more with white people than blacks...

Makes me think... I always mark (other) on paperwork that asks race, and I write HUMAN, but now I wonder if we will ever see ourselves as the human race rather than black/white/hispanic/etc.

See, I always identify as being Jamaican [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img] and many times I am mistaken as hispanic [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img] but that usually only happens in Mexico and Florida [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

a person who I consider wise used to say that in my childrens childrens childrens lifetime the majority race will be "brown" as in mixed....but he was a "browning" from uptown Kgn [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]
