"Yes Kaila?" Vanessa answered the phone groggily.
"What's your cousins name I got the message on my voicemail when to pick him up, but no name. I thought we had better sense than that." Vanessa groaned and rolled over impressed and annoyed at Kaila's organizaton skills. Everything had to be done a certain way, waaaay before schedule and perfectly. Perfect for Kaila's job discription but horrible for her life. She couldn't be spontaneous.

"You don't have to pick him up for another 4 hours? Why don't you go for your run have so breakfast and then call me back?"
"You know me already just give me the name and you won't here from me until I come by the office later with him."
"Why would you come by the office later?" Vanessa sniffed a scheme for her to 'check things out' while she was on vacation.
"Don't you want to see your cousin?"
"No, I won't have any time i'm running your business remember? I also will like you to stay away since I caught on to your little ploy." Vanessa said curtly. "Anyway tomorrow night's one of the parties you'll see how it works out and maybe you'll be more comfortable then, okay?"
"Fine. Who's party is this?"
"Some new teenie bop reggae singer. He signed a huge record deal so it's a promotional party. I've already said too much. My cousins name is Ricky. Goodbye until later Kaila. I'll pick him up from your house." The phone line went dead before Kaila could inquire more on the party. Vanessa knew her too well, but she couldn't change. Her issue with perfection was some sort of twisted OCD ailement.

Kaila leaned on the convertible as she waited for Ricky. The sun was hot, but she refused to walk into the shade, as all the taxi drivers where lined up already harassing the people standing there for cover from the sun.

She looked at her watch. 'How long will it take him get through, the plane already landed an hour ago.' She hated tardiness it irked her.

Kaila's annoyance subsided for just a moment as she eyed this very attractive guy walking out of the airport. He was about 6'2", broad shoulders and his muscles showed lightly thru his clothing. He wore a Brown Evisu T-shirt with matching white and brown shorts. Kaila usually didn't pay any attention to name brands, but she couldn't help but notice Evisu strategically printed across his pecs. He smiled at the skycap who offered to help him with his bags and Kaila noticed his beautiful straight teeth and dimples to die for. She was suddenly unable to handle all the heat and was about to move into the shade when the gentleman pointed in her direction.

She looked around confused at first, almost forgetting what she was at the airport for. Finally 2 and 2 found eachother. As the gentleman walked up to her with his arm outstretched, she spoke, "I guess you're Ricky?" she said trying to keep focus with his face instead of his chest.

"Yes, it's an honor to finally meet you. I've kept up with parties thrown by you since my cousin started working for you. Your parties are always worthwhile even if i'm just watching it from home."

"Thank you." She accepted his handshake he then leaned forward and kissed her cheek. In the warm of the sun they were standing in, his lips still met her cheek with sweet coolness. As cool as the kiss was on her cheek the heat rose from her stomach up her neck. She was glad she wasn't the type to show much emotion. "Well where do you want to head to first?" She asked.

"Well it's such a hot day. The beach sounds great." He said eyeing her from top to bottom as she opened the trunk. Kaila felt his eyes on her body and she turned around quickly.
"Hey I live right on one so let's start there."

They drove off and even though Kaila felt she wasn't dazed by his charm she wondered why she had to fight this nervousness in her stomach. 'Infatuation.' she thought to herself. She already promised herself she wasn't going to get involved for awhile, and she is determined to stick with it.

The drive back to Kaila's place was uneasy. They talked about how life was living on an island and after that there was a long silence that sat in the car like another passenger.

They pulled up to the two story beach house. "Isn't this kind of inconvienent for you, with all the thunder storms and hurricane warnings during mid-summer?" Ricky asked as he scoped the landscape.

"Well I usually spend most of my time at the office and if there is a storm or hurricane warning I stay at a hotel in town."
"Sounds good." Ricky said in an approving tone. He had a way of thinking like a big brother to the women he knew. He couldn't help it being the only boy for his parents and the oldes of five.

"Where are you planning on staying?" Kaila asked trying to keep the conversation going.
"I'm suppose to stay with Vanessa. She insisted, saying I 'shouldn't spend extra cash on a hotel' while she has an apartment here."

"Okay that sounds cool. Come to think of it as long as Vanessa and I have been living here I haven't been to her apartment. I've been so busy. I tried buying her a house when we first moved here, as part of the deal, and she turned it down saying that was going to be to big for just her. I have to talk to her about that again, she's so important to me." Kaila looked up to see Ricky staring at her in admiration. She blushed and popped the trunk.

"Well she speaks highly of you so I know there's no hard feeling about you not visiting. She told me how hectic it can get in the party business, Especially working with the demands of a star."
"Outrageous demands. There was one guy that wanted his party so exotic that he wanted lions walking around as if they were housecats." Kaila said with a chuckle.
"Did you do it?!" Ricky asked.

"No, No way! I told him the danger of that was if any of his female guest were 'at that time of month' They would be main course for those big cats. So we convinced him to have them contained." Ricky shook his head as he pulled his bags out the trunk. "Are you okay I can get someone to get that for you?"

"No that's fine just lead the way. Who's party was that?" He asked.
"Nah I don't like to give out the names of the clients after I told a story of their dumb moment. If you can guess it though I'll let you know."
"Is it a rapper?"
"No clues either." Kaila said as she led him into the house and down the first hallway. "The guest room is just in here you can put your stuff in there and relax before you go for a swim."
"Your house is beautiful.

How could you stay away at the office all day. I'd work from home if I had a place like this."
"Yeah, I fell in love with it at first sight. This month i'm taking off was doctor's orders. He said I needed time off to de-stress both physcially and mentally. I feel like i've been going crazy lately though being home."

"You'll be fine, i'm here to keep you company for the rest of your vacation." Kaila smiled and walked over to open the shades.
"When you're ready just go out this back door down the hall and the beach is straight ahead."
"Oh! I'm swimming alone?" He asked. Secretly he had to see her in a 2 piece live. He'd seen her in a magazine last year at a pool party she threw. She was hot. He's been dying to meet her since, but Vanessa's a great blocker, well, up until now.
"Um, I haven't swam in awhile and I don't think it would be a good idea." She remembered how her body took over for a moment at the airport and was not trying to put herself at risk for a full alarm going off. 'Wait i'm Kaila Richardson, I can handle this' she willed to herself. "Sure, why not? Call me on your way out and i'll meet you out there. Kaila then left and headed out to the kitchen and asked the chef if he can send down a few cold beers to the beach. She then went upstairs to change.

She made her way out to the beach after he called out. Book in hand, she sat on one of the lounge chairs and grabbed a beer out the bucket. She took a sipp and that's when she noticed Ricky had spotted her and was making his way out of the water. Water dripping slowly off his sculpted body almost slowly as if the droplets were trying to cling on just a little longer. "Don't spend your time up here with your nose in a book, it's lonely out there." Kaila was about to answer when she noticed that she hadn't swallowed that first sip of beer. She gulped.
"I'm not a water person." Kaila lied while wincing at the pain from the big gulp she took.

"Oh, that's why you live on an island, surrounded by water by the way, and on the beach, couple feet from the afore-mentioned water." He said sitting down and grabbing a beer himself. "When we're finished with our beer we're going for a swim then we're planning our day for tomorrow. I'm about to give you the month of your life." He said wryly.
A little part of Kaila hoped he would.

After a couple hours on the beach Kaila and Ricky went to their rooms to get cleaned up for dinner. As Kaila got dressed she thought of the great time she had today. It's been a long time since she worried about her own fun instead of her client's. She went downstairs to the dining room to find Ricky already seated waiting for her. As she entered the room he stood up and walked around to pull out her chair.
"Oh you don't have to do that." She said before taking a seat. "I pull out this chair everyday, it's just another day."
"When was the last time a man treated you like the queen you are? One thing women power mostly forget is that they are still women." Kaila nodded slightly agreeing with the statement. It has been a long time since she really allowed herself to sit back while someone else took the reigns. Ever since she broke up with Robert, she felt she had to be tough and dominant to keep from being hurt again.

Dinner was great, they talked about Ricky's job in advertising and how it has also been awhile since he's taken a break. "I love my job so much I lost track of time. Vanessa suggested the vacation." Ricky said while pouring her another glass of wine.
"So you lost a track of time for two years." Kaila said with a chuckle. She sipped some wine before she looked up at him. He had a look on his face that showed he was about to get smart.
"Well from what I understand I wasn't the only one at this table that forgot to look at the calendar, what's your excuse?"
"I buried myself in work, making other fantasies come true so I can escape my own reality, or so my doc says." 'Okay that was enough wine.' Kaila thought as she put her glass down.
"Your reality doesn't seem so bad, but i'm just going by what the mags are saying."
"It depends on what mags you're reading. I only speak to one. Wait a minute, you keep track of me in the papers?"
"Yes. I'm very overprotective of my cuz, whatever happens to you affects her. Plus I think your a gorgeous woman and I read everyday someone hasn't snatched you up, before I had a chance to at least meet you." Ricky said in a smooth tone. Kaila cleared her throat and sat up as she felt the heat rising in her body. She was searching for a response to that comment when the doorbell rang.

"I should get that." she gasped as she sprang from the table. "Talk about saved by the bell." She muttered as she opened the door. Vanessa stood at her front door, looking exhausted. Her black hair was dishevled and there were dark circles around her eyes. "What in the world happened to you?"
"Your business that's what happened. Without an assistant like me to help me be you. I end up looking like this."
"Well go into the dining room, I'll get you some dinner." Kaila headed for the kitchen. Vanessa walked into the dining room and was instantly lifted from the floor.
"Cuz, what's up?!" Ricky had her in his arms like a rag doll, kissing her cheeks until they were red.
"Oh i've missed you so much. How was your flight and your day?"
"The flight was alright a little turbulence over Cuba, but other than that my day was great. I really like Kaila, but she looks like she has a tough shell to come out of."
"Well that's why your here right? I always thought you guys would be great together, but it's so hard to get you guys out of your offices. You know I had to call her doctor to get him to make her take a vacation, so that your vacations would run together?" Vanessa said bulging her eyes. "Now i'm starting to regret it. The party we're throwing for this brat tomorrow night is killing me."
"You better learn what you can, when you can, you never know. Your working for one of the most famous party planners in the world. You pay attention. Our family doesn't produce assistants. We use that as a stepping stone. All you have is one step to take."
"I know, but it's just so-"
"No, buts. Kaila cares for you a lot, so you never know what she's gonna offer, A woman like that always have wheels spinning in her head. Stay sharp!" Vanessa always admired that about her cousin, his ambition.

"Well here's your dinner." Kaila said as placed the plate in front of Vanessa and the poured her a glass of wine. "So? How did your day go?"
"If this is one of your ploys to get me to talk about the office i'm not going to. I'd die first. Relax, you taught me a lot." Vanessa said patting Kaila's hand.
"I see that you'll die first. Look at your tired eyes. I told you to let me hire a temp before I left." Kaila said. Her motherly voice pounding through. "Well since you're so tired I want you to stay in the second guest room tonight, i'm not letting you back out on the road. What time do you have to meet the crew tomorrow?"
"Around one." Vanessa said accepting her invite to stay.
"Good you'll get enough sleep." Tomorrow when your done setting up the party come over here to get ready. That way Shaun can do your hair and make-up before me so you can be on your way."
"Great!" Vanessa said, she's been dying for Shaun to do her hair he was amazing.

"Good let me call him and tell him to show up earlier." Kaila got up to make the phone call.
Ricky looked at Vanessa and whispered, "The wheels are always turning." He then winked and watched Kaila from behind as she spoke on the phone. If only he can get her to open up.

Unable to fall asleep Kaila walked out to her balcony where the moon was glowing brightly across the sea. She watched as the ocean's waves rolled is slowly as if the sea was at rest. The cool night air blew across Kaila's shoulder's giving her chills.

Suddenly, two big arms wrapped around her shoulders and pulled her close. "Feeling a little chilly?" Ricky asked her his breath hitting her ear softly.
"A little. What are you doing here?" She asked turning around to face him, but didn't try to remove his arms.
"I couldn't stop thinking of you. I had to be with you tonight. I know you hardly know me, but if you-." He was stopped when Kaila's lips met his. It was soft and sweet just like he imagined. Kaila pulled away, shocked at her boldness, Ricky pulled her in and kissed her again this time longer, harder. The moved feverishly to the bedroom. Ripping eachother's clothes off without loosing their connection. Kaila couldn't remember the last time she was so passionate towards someone. He laid over her nibbling her neck and kissing a trail down to her aching breasts. He entered her. Kaila felt as if she would explode from the feelings that rose from her body. She scratched at his back and whispered his name begging him not to stop.He rolled over inviting her on top. As she took over control she could feel the sweat rolling down her back. She looked at his face that held the expression of total satisfaction. He was whispering her name, but Kaila could hardly hear it. As his voice became clearer it sounded more and more like Vanessa's.

Kaila popped up in bed to see the sun shining brightly into her room. Vanessa was sitting at the foot of her bed with a smug look on her face. "Well, well, well. So those are the dreams of Kaila Richardson. I'm sorry to have awakened you from bliss, but in order for that body pillow you were clinging to so tightly to be Ricky you have to take a short walk downstairs." She said giggling. Kaila fell back and pulled the pillows over her face.
"How much did I say?" Kaila asked pillow still intact.
"Just enough to know that Ricky was doing it just like you like." Kaila threw the pillow at her and slid out of bed.
"What time is it?"
"Don't change the subject, it's 10:30. Why don't you give him a chance?"
"I don't know him, Duh."
"But you know me. If he were bad for you, trust me, even though he's family. I'll tell you he was a dog. Your the closest thing I have to a sister. I wouldn't steer you wrong on purpose." Kaila knew that, she was scared of love not Ricky.
"Don't you have a party to finish up?" Kaila asked as a second attempt to change the subject, It worked.
"Yeah let me get out of here. Ricky still asleep, you guys finished that bottle of wine last night. Drunks. Anyway i'll be back soon." Vanessa left and went downstairs to her cousins room. Where he was also moaning. She walked closer to his bed to see what he was talking about.
"Kaila, you are so naughty." Vanessa covered her mouth stiffling a laugh.
'These two are unbelievable. Things are coming together slowly.' she thought as she walked out to her car. The both need to get in touch with love again. Vanessa thought back to when Ricky's ex-wife was giving him hell.

Ricky married Desiree when he was just starting out in the advertising business. He knew it was a tough business and would take up all his time. He was worried about his marriage and the time his job would take away from it. Desiree assured that she would be okay because what he was doing was for the both of them and she understood.
Finally Ricky got his break three years into the marriage. His boss sent him home early to celebrate. Ricky rushed home to find his wife handcuffed to the bed and her lover with a mouth full of whip cream. Not only was he surprised at the scene he was taking in. He was also shocked that his goodie two shoe of a wife, who would only practice missionary with him was into bondage. As a result he spent the night in jail and divorced papers were filed ASAP. Just before his promotion was handed to him. Ricky now keeps himself content, by daydreaming everytime she passes that building downtown with his name on it, a tear rolls down her face.

Ricky rolled over in bed to see Kaila standing over him. "Breakfast is ready when you are, remember we do have a busy day."
"My day started nice so far. Waking up to your face over me. Tomorrow morning let's try waking up with that face next to me."
"That was soooo corny." She said turning around and walking out to hide the blush that was fighting it's way onto her face.
