Rootsie is the more to the problem than the dog? I mean, could the something else be your issue but maybe she is becoming a vehicle for venting your angst?

I forget to mention I have a covered chair that I keep covered so the dogs can use that, but the cover protects the chair. Perhaps you could cover a chair and let her use that. Then you would only have to wash the cover. Get a couple covers so you could change them frequently. I bet that is what Ceaser would say! I keep them off of the couch with the scat mats unless I have it covered. You could also do that

And here is the X-mat. In summer when I don't have those bulky couch covers on my couch use these and trust me, they work!

I dont think so because this has come up due to a freind walking in and commenting on the smell...followed by a family member with the same comment.

As far as the barracades I use empty boxes when we leave and at night.
She only gets up on the furniture when alone.
The boxes nest together and sit in the closet out of sight
works good.

OK, that is easy. They make a fabreeze just for pets, and they also have carpet sprinkle stuff for the carpeting.

Ya know I was also thinking, that the dog is a great thing for the grandkids to have around too. It teaches them things above and beyond what you would ever think.

I must say I do feel your angst. As a rule hunting dogs have a certain smell as they have an oil in their coats that adds protection when they are doing what they were bred to do, which is hunt. The oil helps their skin in water. I had a friend with a Chesapeake and I can remember that smell. I am so not a Lab person as I don't hunt.

Fabreeze and arm and hammer carpet deodorant and I would never let a hunting dog on my couch. I wasn't even thinking about that oil part last night!

Dogs and human beings were not meant to live together. Dogs stinks, no matter how often they are bathed/shampooed or whatever. I hate visiting people and smelling dog, or having hair all over my clothes.

Some time ago the mother of a colleague died and we made arrangement to attend the funeral using private cars. I ended up in a stinking car with dog blanket and lots of hair all over my clothes to pick off, and dog smell that I could not pick off.

I love dogs, but I refuse to live with them.

Don't bottle up your feelings, tell hubby about them.

Yeah, that is why I would never own one lab. sigh

I believe they make a coat spray but I know nothing about them since this isn't a problem with my Toy breeds. I guess one thing is maybe it is time for hubby to start using the vacuum and cleaning up after his baby.

How old is this dog? She can't be 20! maybe when she goes hubby could pick a less smelly breed. A non hunting type. Something like a pretty Boxer. Or a Standard Poodle, they do not smell or shed. Actually there are a few breeds that do not shed.

i find those fido commercials where the people are supposed to look like their dogs disturbing.
