HIV positive man arrested for unprotected sex
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police have arrested an HIV positive man for having unprotected sex with a woman.
Police say 22-year-old club promoter Eliodor Kersaint took a woman home in March after one of his promotions. According to the police report, Kersaint brought the victim to his apartment on Washington Avenue, and he had unprotected sex with the victim at least twice.
Afterwards, police say Kersaint told the woman he had HIV, and she contacted officials.
"It's a felony, but for the victim it's a lifelong sentence, so it's obviously more severe for the victims in those cases," said Miami Beach Police Sgt. Bobby Hernandez.
It is still unknown whether or not the woman contracted the HIV virus. "She has what's called a three-month window that she has. If she doesn't become positive in three months, then she doesn't have it," said Charles W. Martin from the South Beach AIDS project. "Taking that one minute to put a condom on can save your live, can save so many other people's lives, can save you from becoming infected with HIV and so many other different STDs."
Police fear there may be other victims of this crime out there
