When I got hired here one of the main reason was that I have real estate experience and the firm had a big project coming up to close on the project. For months we have been in meetings, etc, discussing the progress of the project, documents needed and the order in which we will close.

for about 3 months I have been sitting in with the main paralegal in charge of the project, since work was distribute to each individual to be incharge of and they wanted to "train" me on how to do the work [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img]

Everytime something comes up for me to do she does it instead of giving it to me. She is constantly showing me how the do the same thing over and over and over and no matter how much I tell her I got it I have never gotten an opportunity to prove my skills. (did I mention we are getting bonuses base on our work on this project?)

Now she is in the hospital for surgery, we knew for about a week now that she will be doing surgery and out a week. So, apart from feeling sorry that she had to do this surgery I was glad to have to opportunity to show the attorney what I can do. Yesterday, she told me that they hired someone temporary to come in and do the work and I should get with the person today so that person can tell me what to do.

Then, before I leave last night she told me some title orders came. I said to her don't worry I could take care of them and you can just relax and prepare for your surgery. Now this morning I got in and got an email from her saying she decided to stay late last night the did the orders.

What would you think here?

Yes but in this industry it would be against your interest.

I would casually mention "wow, there's a temp coming in and I am capable of doing the work, profits must be up this year" and leave it at that. Don't focus on this now sis, when you return from the wedding, start interviewing, then write a short but sweet letter of resignation.

When they call you for the Exit interview rip into them, the famous quesstion will be asked, will u suggest this firm to your friends say no because ________________, don't write it never write those thigns down.

Been working in this field for 11 years and gone through so many jobs I've lost count because of the same effery.

In our field, as a black woman, you have to tread lightly tek the title weh dem gi yuh an move on. You knkow how touchy they can get esp. when a black person complains.

Mi nuh undastan de question, because for me it would'nt have gotten this far.

After the second time of her 'doing my work' I'd've asked her if she didn't think I was capable. And I would've indicated that I wanted a serious answer.

The answer would then determine my next action.

She fraid a yuh. She already done know you are a subject matter expert, and she nuh want yuh fi tek har job. I'd say something....use the bonus as the excuse. "I know my bonus is riding on this, and I'd like to make a bigger contribution"

Your extensive experience is very intimidating to her. She may feel like once she gives you something to do, someone else may notice and realize how much time they've wasted with her.

Moving forward, don't wait till later to do anything....do it right then and there. Also be careful, she may be telling the managers that you're incapable of doing your job.

sounds like she is threaten by you and is trying to show you are incompetent. Speak with your manager but try no to say anything negative about her behaviour. Give the benefit of the doubt.
