Inspired by the Changing Numbers thread


Anybody have to change their number or where they lived due to a stalker?

I had a stalker who called my house all the time when I was younger but didnt have the good sense to realize that this ish wasnt right until I was older (and my parents found out [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img])

It started when I was about 14 years old. The guy would call and tell me what I did that day; what I was wearing; what he thought of me in the clothes that I was wearing; who I was with, etc.

I thought it was funny for the first couple of years and then realized that this guy was watching my every move all the time. When I told my parents they of course freaked and we had to change our phone number, and my mom decided to move elsewhere. (She wanted to move anyways).

The calls stopped after that and noone every approached me afterwards but I always wondered just how close to danger I really was......

that was the thing tuffstuff. I was really young so at first I thought it was one of the guys that I hung out with just playing around. They were the only ones with my home number cause we had a private and unlisted phone number [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

it was when I hit high school that I realized that this wasnt right cause the man knew waaayyyyy too much about my comings and goings.

It lasted til I started post-secondary, so about 4 or 5 years......
Then my mom overheard me on the phone and asked what that was all about and hit the roof when I told her.

One of my daughters was getting unwanted phone calls when she was going to high school from some guy in the neighbouring housing scheme. I changed the number and that was that.
btw. That was before cell phones came in.

Same daughter revealed as an adult that boys in her class found it amusing to pull her hair from behind and that she sought refuge in the girls restroom during lunch break.

There are many things that our children endured that we parents never knew, some of which bordered on down right abuse.

That's so true Q. I deliberately didnt tell my parents about other things cause I didnt want to upset them [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img] It's their damn job to protect me.

Even after the phone calls stopped, I always wondered if this person was in my life afterwards. When I say that he knew my every move - I mean my every move.......

It seemed that the guy was just too shy to come forward and reveal himself.

I dont think he ever did come into your life because something would have given him away as to who it was that was doing the stalking.

Maybe but when his talk started to escalate, there was nuttin shy about him......

It did make me paranoid for a while after that. I would listen to every guy's voice carefully to see if it sounded like the one on the phone.

But to know that someone is following you all day and watching your every move isnt something you dismiss as a school-boy crush.....
