Rochelle Tanisha Taylor and Kevin Anthony Brown pledged their love for each other when they were wed at Christ Church, Morant Bay, St. Thomas, recently.
Reverend Lenworth Haughton officiated and there were more than 100 guests in attendance.
The bride was especially pleased with how the event unfolded. To begin, her gown made by seamstress 'Jennie' from Church Corner fitted her gorgeously. The bridal party, all dressed in a light lavender, complemented her. The reception was held at the Whispering Bamboo Cove, where Jacqueline Henriques and Raymond Scott shared the spotlight as masters of ceremonies. One of the items of attraction was the cake made in the form of a doll. This work of art was done by Sharon Hunter, a co-worker.
To surprise Kevin, Rochelle, who is not blessed as a song bird, boldly sang Kenny Rogers' Write Your Name Across My Heart. Her boldness knocked Kevin over and he could not help but to hug and kiss her repeatedly.
"I felt extremely happy," said Rochelle.
With much laughter, she recalled aspects of their fun-filled relationship. She said that the friendship started about four years ago. The relationship began when they met on a minibus while travelling from Kingston to St. Thomas.
"After disembarking he called out: What is your number?"
"I yelled it out," she said.
"I went home, sat and waited for that call - It was a long wait. I impatiently took hold of the directory but then the phone rang and it was him; from then on we started to communicate," she added.
She described her new husband as caring, dedicated and a very romantic person and a man who enjoys surprising her.
One day Kevin stated that he was not feeling well, so she told him she hoped he would feel better soon. But later in the day, she received a text message instructing her to go to a certain place. Out of curiosity, she went only to open a room filled with red roses, candles and a table set for dinner.
Among the many surprises was his proposal to her.
Surprise!
"I went to spend a weekend with his family and as I came from the bathroom about to enter my room I discovered that the light was not on. Anyway, I dismissed the idea and went in, only to turn on the light and discover Kevin on his knees with the engagement ring held high. I was stunned. Imagine me with all my small clothes in my hand, slippers on!"
Kevin said that his wife is the most caring, loving, ambitious individual he has ever met. She is an inspiration and has shown him much love and appreciation, hence this marriage is one of the most joyous occasions to him.
"My bride was beautiful and every thing went according to plan," Kevin said.
