I think different cultures like different things,..and also different women like different looks on a man.
Some women like a clean shaven guy,and some women dont,its all about preference,and you cant please everyone.

However,...I have shaved my chest on occasions before going on holiday,as *I* like the look,..as it highlights my muscular physique mi no care its my chest,...and mi no care who bex,.......but my wife prefers me with my hairy chest,so sometimes I go hairy.

Same with my goatee,she prefers me with a small goatee beard even though I would sometime like to shave it off for a different look.
It all boils down to preference,some women like hair,and some women dont,...in the same way some men like big tits,and some men dont.

I think to some extent that with some Jamaican women its a cultural thing,guys who shave are seen as less than macho,....or somehow "gay",....it will be a slow process dragging that kind of attitude kicking and screaming into the twenty first century.
