...does this determine your status?

Some people prefer wearing only solid colours in subdued tones...not bright ...; others wear mainly prints. Some do a mix. What does it all mean?

Is there a connection, universally, to one's status depending on what one prefers? or does it vary from culture to culture?

1. Some people wear bold colours only.
2. Some people wear prints mainly.
3. Some wear either bold or prints; it does not matter.
4. Why is there this choice?
5. Is it a cultural reason why one might choose colours over prints.
6. Do low status people wear bright colours and prints?
7. Do high status people wear mainly solid (bold) colours?
8. Why do people call prints...busy ..fabric?..and why does it seem that <span style="font-style: italic">classy </span>people do not wear prints?and mainly wear solid colours?
9. IS this cultural? or what?
10. Is there any connection...or its it just co-incidence that you will <span style="text-decoration: underline">never</span> catch some people in prints and /or bright colours?

Curious to know where your line of reasoning is coming from Shandra

Here (where I live) people who wear solids mainly work in a more conservative environment.

My industry is more laid back and I see many &quot;classy&quot; people who wear prints.

However.....I think it has more to do with personality and body image than class.

Bright colours and prints are thought to be less forgiving to bulges and curves than more muted tones.

That being said...the dresses and blouse (fashion) of 2008 was very much patterned (busy) with bold colours and graphics.

but perhaps things are different down where you are.....

I try bnto be parochial in my thinking; it's just a general question. Fashion magazines tell you, at times, not to wear head to toe prints...but to mute it with a solid color,

Chinese people seemed to wear mainly black, brown, blue and dark green - young and old people alike. Clothes in department stores were quite old fashioned, not at all European or American style - colors were dark and dull.
