The White House is going to get a new make over. The first lady already selected her designer. They both have several plans to make the private quarters as unique as possible for the Obamas.
The Presidential Transition Office stated that Michael Smith had been selected as the designer of White House. Michelle Obama selected her to make the house ‘home’ of their choice.
Smith is a native of California. He was a student of interior design at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. He continued his further study in London. He came back to California to start a home furnishings store and launched a design firm in 1990.
Laura Bush created a beautiful home for her family, commented Michelle Obama. However they want to give their own touch to the East Wing and created a living space. Michelle Obama wants to incorporate some new ideas from some of the greatest designers of America. Smith shared her concept for making a family-friendly feel to their new home, said the first lady.
Michael is very happy to work with Obama family. He mostly likes their style and energy to the residence at The White House. The private quarters of The White House will get the touch of Hollywood-style.
Smith already had many experiences of decorating houses of celebrities. He decorated the residences of actors Michelle Pfeiffer and Dustin Hoffman, director Steven Spielberg, model Cindy Crawford mogul Rupert Murdoch. He has a specialty of using antiques in a different way which feels airy and modern.
