The Presidential Transition Office stated that Michael Smith had been selected as the designer of White House. Michelle Obama selected her to make the house ‘home’ of their choice.
Smith is a native of California. He was a student of interior design at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. He continued his further study in London. He came back to California to start a home furnishings store and launched a design firm in 1990.
Laura Bush created a beautiful home for her family, commented Michelle Obama. However they want to give their own touch to the East Wing and created a living space. Michelle Obama wants to incorporate some new ideas from some of the greatest designers of America. Smith shared her concept for making a family-friendly feel to their new home, said the first lady.
