Eyebrow Threading Tutorial

I remember a thread was posted a while back on eyebrow threading - not sure where it is now though. The process, when it was described, sounded sooooooooooooo painful back then. The young lady in this vid offers a step by step tutorial on doing it yourself, and I must say that after watching her do it, I thought 'wow that's easy". It still looks painful (a little ), but easier than how I've heard it described.

I'm trying to save myself the $7 to $10 from going to the eyebrow place and getting it done. An mi have too much brow fi walk roun widdout dem done (well, mi past di embarassment stage weh people keep asking mi if mi not waxing mi brows ).

you were getting them threaded or waxed? If waxing, well, mi an hot wax is not di best of friends so I can totally understand. If threading, since mi never try it yet, describe your experience fi mi, please 'n thanks

i find threading more painful than waxing

friend of mine told me that black people hair more &quot;rooted&quot; than white or indian people, so things like threading are waaaaay more painful for us.

i've had mine done and it's painful man, woie.

Gen, inna di tutorial shi seh dat wid di waxing yuh remove a layer of skin - an mi not lying, it feel like it fi real when dem tear of di waxing strip from di brow.

MGee, you fren could be on to something, since mi notice dat fi di different hues of people sitting to get theirs done, the reactions are noticeably different across di spectrum .

But honestly, di girl in di tutorial mek it seem soooooooo easy dat mi want fi try it on a nice comfortable day when mi relax, in a good mood, an have di ability to tolerate pain - an when di skin pores dem well open, ascarden to di girl. Dis way, mi can save miself di $7 to $10 an' nat have di people dem a look pan mi an ask why mi nevah come in di last couple months fi get di brow dem wax

ephra-if the wax too HOT it will bun yuh, it have to cool dung first. mi nuh think it remove any more skin dan when yuh use sea salt and do a scrub pan yuh leg, juss dead cells

I get my eyebrows threaded and it doesnt really hurt for me

One side, the left, is a bit more sensitive but over all it doesnt bother me. Waxing on the other hand I cannot tolerate at all I tried 3 times and just cant do it anymore.

With that being said, I still wouldnt do it myself because you have the possibility of pulling your skin, and THAT will hurt like a S.O.B. When I get mine down I pull my skin taut when the lady is doing it so she has a smoother surface to work on, less possible stinging, and it ends faster.

I wondered the same things as Nylah. Also, the lady always has me hold my skin while she threads for a smoother surface. It doesn't hurt when I get it done, but I HATE (hate, hate) the sound of the hairs ripping out. If I didn't like the result, I wouldn't do it based on the sound it makes alone. It makes me get the heeby-jeebies

yeah, when there is a bit of...ehem...growth....that sound can be unsettling

Considering it only cost $5 to thread vs $25 to wax, and the results are far more precise, I will always prefer threading. In the hands of someone who does it well, it is fast, easy and painless.

Only one time it hurt and that was with a woman at a salon different to where I normally go. She was still fairly new at the technique. It took her 25 mins (vs the normal 5 mins) and she caught my skin a few times that did not feel so good

Then I had to fork out $25 for the hell of it all. So, from then on, I stick with my East Indian techinican who is a pro.

Getting your upper lip stings a bit but it is still less painful for me than waxing. With waxing, they need to peel me off the ceiling
