I didn't use to be a bag person, I just couldn't be bothered. I had pieces but rarely carried them. Lately, I found that I'm using them more and more. I purchased a really nice yellow soft leather bag over the summer which I wore to death. I'm looking at it now and it looks "worn to death" the color changed, tho the bag is not dirty it has a dirty look because of the wear on the leather.

I remembered when I purchased my LV bags the associate at the store told me to purchase leather lotion to condition the bags to make them last longer and not crack. After assessing my yellow bag I started looking for leather conditioner for my LV bags and couldn't find any. I called the store just now and the associate said that the person who told me to condition my bag should not have told me that because it will ruin the bag. Now I don't know who to believe.

I'm asking does anyone condition or give any general care/treatments to their bags other then an occasional wet cloth wipe down. Any suggestions appreciated for any bag care but if any one has any experience with LV bag care especially that would be helpful.

I think Fendi uses the same type of leather as LV, or similar kind.

I had minea while back and used the leather lotion that a leather care store recommended. I dont recall the name of the product but if you have a leather speciality store near you, I would give them a try first.

The leather is hard to maintain on those bags if you use them daily. Since I am too lazy for all of that, I kinda gave up owing one

Thanks Nylah for responding...I do have bag that are collection dust and have been neglect, what a shame.

Can I ask you when you did care for your bags did you find that the leather lotion maintain the condition of the bag significantly?

no problem.

yes, the leather lotion I had did a good job. Where I live the air is very dry especially in the winter, so it did prevent cracking.

I did learn my lesson quickly though, because I had run out of the lotion one month and didnt rush to get more and the corners of the bag (where it makes contact with hard surfaces) did crack

It was hard to stop the damage after that. The leather just kept peeling back until it no longer looked good.

So, yes it did make a difference what they recommended. I really wish I could recall the name brand but I just cant at the moment.

Okay..That's exactly what I want to prevent the cracking. I wanted feed back from someone who experienced it. If you do remember the name at a later time pls do share it. In the meantime, I'll get back on the search again. I've gone to the leather stores in my area and surpringly they didn't have anything. My son has a leather conditioner spray that he puts on his sneakers and timbs that I was consindering using in the meantime. Also Uggs has some care products as well that I may try.

I must say that the leather sprays dont work too well on that kind of leather. It keeps dirt at bay but not so great at actually protecting the leather itself.

If you are in a pinch, I would suggest using those clear but solid shoe polishes to protect at least the contact points on the bag until you can find a good leather lotion.
