what do you do with your clothes that are a tad tight? Salvation Army or ...?

Just tried on a cute little blouse fi today's activities...and di blouse look like ah seh it shrink...ehem..ehem...

Remember as a little girl, there were always people around to get used clothing but everybody seem to want brand- new ,fresh things nowadys. Anybody ah wear people ole clothes nowadays?

We drop our clothes at local churches that give them away to their members.

Ah dat ni a chry fi fine out...how poor is poor...nowadays?
When I was a child, I remember the church receiving barrels and barrels of clothing from a church group in the States and it would be a joy to find anything that could fit. It did not mean that we did not clothes...it just meant that we would have more.
Seems as if folks are not wired that way anymore.
Mi nah go gi yu summen wha look wash-out and wear-out...so if di something can wear and it look good, I cannot see 'what the problem are' odda dan wat yu seh: dem mighta poor but dem ...loaded down wid pride.

I clean out my closet once a year. If it fits or not, it goes if I haven't worn the item in the last year. I donate more children's clothes as my boy is growing fast. We donate to a local charity that helps families in need. For my son's school uniforms, the school collects them to give them to families who need it.

Plus it's not even about being poor...if I have something that does not fit and you can wear it...why not?
I have a friend who makes some of my dresses and when she gets tired of something she gives it to me especially if she knows it's my style. If I have something that just doesn't 'cut it' after a few wears, she tekk it. Sometimes, new clothes get in that mix also... like when I found some real nice slacks... she made me tops to go with dem and I bought her bottoms to go with her tops.
My point is that although this is just one tiny example of living neighbourly, some of us are not living as neighbourly as we perhaps used to do once upon a time.

Part of dis is our fault (we who live a farrin) some a wi goh dung deh goh gwaan like wi a millionair a farrin, soh dem noh expect nutten less dan millionaire tings fram wi.

mi have some to give weh, dem set up collection boxes nin a de mall near home, but on second thought mi a wait fi hear if Red cross a collect fi the people a New Orleans - mi would prefer it go deh
