Good News! Khamit Kinks is here to service your Locs, regardless of their condition. For Starter Locs, we offer the palm rolling method. The Palm Rolling method, the foundation technique used for all loc maintenance, is a technique of rolling each individual section. This process enables your locs to grow uniformly in both length and width.
The Coil Technique is an alternative method used to begin Locs for short hair. Your hair is rolled up on a rubber coated wire and left in as a style for 6- 8 weeks. When the wire is removed, your hair has already begun to Loc and you are now ready to have your new Locs palm rolled. As long as the palm roll does not get wet (we recommend a shower cap worn while you bathe) they will stay in place until your next visit 4-6 weeks later.
For longer lengths (5" or more) and hard to Loc hair (straighter textures) we recommend a 2 Strand Twist. This method is two pieces of hair twisted together very much like Senegalese Twists. This style can stay in for up to 3 months before Locing. It's a great way to try the loc look if you're uncertain about Locing. For maintenance, we suggest coming into the salon every 4-6 weeks for palm rolling.

(((SassyRas))) I don't know about "spinners", I have sistalocs, don't think the palm rolling will work for mines, they are extremely thin.

However, My husband has dreads and they are pretty thick, I was wondering what I can do to make them look a lil more tidy, I think the palm rolling would work. Do you use any type of gel when you palm roll? I need to know the technique to palm rolling.

Wash entire head and put into sections. Apply any oil you may want before palm rolling.

Take each loc and apply gel starting at the root. Take the dread and roll it back and forth in your hand - like a kid playing with PlayDoh - then roll it in your hand mostly in one direction to make all the scraggly hairs go in the same direction. Apply some pressure to compact the dread.

After all the hairs are compressed use a clip (i use those silver ones that open up like an aligator mouth)and clip the palm rolled dread down - proceed to the next loc and do the same thing - clip it down

when the entire head is finished - i recommend a scarf for overnight. Add extra gel to the edges if you want them smooth.

Sleep - wake up and go!

I only do this process to my entire head about 2 - 3 times a year

I have been pulling his locks in thru the roots, almost like the sistaloc technique. One more question, what part of the hair would I place the clip?

The "pull the hair through the roots" is called interlocking - it last longer - but i can't do it - i ended up with knots in my hair - my locktecian is going to kill me

you can place the clip anywhere - it is to hold the hair in place while it drys so it won't un-palm roll - and you don't have to use a clip per loc

and i use that brown gel that you can buy in the supermarket - you don't have to use too much - although i've never experienced flaking - and sometimes i really slap that stuff on

if you want to sit under the dryer you can - but i can't stand it - i just let it dry overnight
