Some definitions for ya:


Board Shorts: Like normal trunks but made longer with a thicker material
Trunks: Your average swimsuit
Midcuts: skin tight and usually shorter than normal trunks
Speedos: Low brief swimsuit, that covers the back and lower sides still
Bikini: Maybe a little smaller than speedos on the sides, but it still covers your behind
Thongs: Like bikini's, but no coverage on the back really
