Have been going to the same hairdresser for ages.

Because I moved this year, have been going less and less – incredibly hard for me to get back over to that Brooklyn neighborhood.

Last I went was in Sept or Oct or something.

I called yesterday to make an appt.

Wanted to do my usual thing of leaving work and rushing there.

This usually lands me in the seat around 6 – worst case 6:30.

Yesterday I ring them up and, as is usually the case, the owner answers.

I start in on making my appt, like I normally do.

She tells me if I come after 6pm, there’s going to be an extra charge of $20.

Mind you – it’s not like they’re staying open extra hours <span style="font-weight: bold">just</span> for me or anything.

look like the fee is just to discourage potential customers so that she can go home early

I'm not a <span style="font-style: italic">'potential'</span> customer.

Been going there for years.

My guess is opposite.

I think business is mad slow and they <span style="font-style: italic">(wrongly)</span> think that this is a way to make extra cake.

They're regularly open, always have been, until 9 at nite!

She alsio spend less on heating bill for that peioiod it when may be slow and only having to heat the place for one or 2 clients.

seem like an economic decision to me.
I direct my staff to make within certain hours. the difference is that i can't increase my fees.
