So dem sell all kinds of jewelry (the gammot according to the local Jeweler I called). Everything is custom made though.So is that why they are so expensive? Which would kind of make sense...the certificate was kinda high IMO. Certainly not an amount I would spend on jewelry for myself.

It'd be cool to design something for myself..I've not done it before.

I asked her if she could point me to a place on line so that I could look at the stuff...she sent me to the site I have to sign up for...it aint happening.

Pandora bracelets are very popular right now. They are a brand of snake chain style bracelet to which you choose the beads to add to it. The beads are also interchangeable so you can switch them out and they are sold in boutiques everywhere. They are also called troll beads. Most are either hand made lampwork glass beads, or sterling silver. It is the larger bead hole that makes the beads different. Most of the glass beads are silver cored and some are not.

I'm making the beads but haven't started coring them yet. I probably will soon but it is very expensive to buy the equipment and the sterling tubing isn't cheap either. That is why the beads are not cheap. You can find the lampwork glass beads on etsy and the like for a lot less than retail, so much less that this is the reason I'm wavering on spending the money to buy the coring tools.

Just make sure you are buying hand made artisan beads and see that they are kiln annealed and not mass produced glass beads imported from China. Those beads are not quality and are made with pretty much slave labor.

Really great site. I like it far better than ebay.com. More interesting things on there and the ppl seem less oily.

That would be a fairly typical 5.00 troll bead on etsy. I grabbed the photo quickly after searching troll/pandora beads. If you do the search it will lead you to thousands of beautiful pandora beads all handmade, some more beautiful &amp; sturdy than others.

Etsy is a site to buy all things handmade by the person selling them. That said...the pandora/troll beads need to be bought with a little caution and knowledge. A lot of those beads are Chinese/Orient knock-off's, so to speak. Made cheaply by pretty much slave labor and they are not kiln annealed so they will break into little sharp pieces easily and more than likely eventually..

So, if you think the deal is too good to be true it is. I also read this morning on a bead site about knock off &quot;pandora&quot; bracelets, but they did come from China on ebay and shipped from China. The bracelet was cheap (99 cents with a 14.00 shipping), but the person thought maybe she could use it. Well, you get what you paid for. It broke as soon as she (the buyer and poster) put it on. The Pandora's at 30 or 40 or whatever they are a good deal. It is a brand that has obviously made a name for itself so they must be pretty sturdy.

Then, once you get the bracelet the bead buying is very fun, because the possibilities are endless and you can mix and match to whatever the occasion is (because the bead hole is large so you can switcheroo).

This is an example of <span style="font-weight: bold">WHAT TO AVOID:</span>



Seriously, the likelihood of that image being taken from somewhere other than of the actual beads being sold is very great. The absolute portion of the equation is A..the person who did make them probably didn't make 20 cents for the time she took to make whatever beads they will send you while probably working in some pretty horrible conditions....and they B are not kiln annealed and will more than likely arrive broken. And C, they will not look like those same beads!

Caution: there are MANY of this kind of etsy store selling these beads!

Just be careful not to buy the bad beads! Make sure they are kiln annealed so they don't break, and be sure to check the feedback of the person selling. Etsy sellers as a whole are great. I have had a store there for a couple of years but it's not been my main selling point as there are literally millions of sellers and you could get lost forever looking at just one fraction of the offerings!

Ah jeeze, now all this pandora talk is making me want to get the coring equipment and start coring some of my own pandora beads!

Nanook...you can make the stuff that Pandora sells Seriously?

I went to a jewelers to look about the gift certificate that I got and their stuff is gorgeous and unique (imo). Wasnt sure I'd spend that kind of money on myself, but when the jeweler told me it was all hand made and custom. Oh and that I could also get precious metal (gold or silver)...it got me to thinking...
