one a mi childhood fren dem, when we was pickney, swear seh she a go have har baby a foreign so it can have straight hair. i remember being skeptical, caw mi cooden figga how mama and pappa wid nappy hair could have straight hair baby juss cause baby born a foreign.

i think it was part of the whole mythology of "being foreign", and going by the kind of foreigners (white folk with straight hair) we were exposed to.
