Help removing fake nails

[Peasie]

Aaargh - I glued on these store-bought nails - they actually look good ... but I hate how they feel. I want to remove them. The instructions say to cut them down then file them to the nail .... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img]

mek sure is acetone like seveen sez caz some nail polish removers are formulated not to injure fake nails

u can hardly find dat inna my area..
me had to go to the nail salon fe get mines off..

i think these are the "press on" nails not gel or acrylic
usually the supermarket has the non-acetone remover right next to the acetone remover

gungo peas - if your nails are gel or acrylic i suggest cutting them down, filing the acrylic or gel down and just letting it grow off. if you try and remove gel/acrylic yourself there is a good possibility that you will damage your nails. you can try soaking but the remover will soften your nails

my only experience with the fake nail thing, i went back to the nail salon (after an arduous week of being unable to fasten my necklace, scratch mi batty etc.) and got them to soak them off.

it did damage my real nails. took about month and a half to totally regrow them.

dont know if others mentioned this.. but plan to be sitting a long while with your nails in the acetone stuff..

it takes a while for the glue to dissolve

Seveen, thank you, thank you, thank you. I bought a bottle of 100% acetone, poured plenty in a small bowl, dipped my fingers in it and swished them around. The glued-on nails just disintegrated. I then scrubbed them with a nail brush in the acetone, dried my hands, then used an emery board to clean out some glue residue. Then I gave my hands a delicious lotion and oil massage and they feel fine now [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70371-jump.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70371-jump.gif[/img] Thank you!

now get some Sally Hansen Hard as Nails and grow your own nails [img]/forums/images/graemlins/bannana_purple.gif[/img]
