On May 20th 2009, 19 year old Ethiopian, <span style="font-weight: bold">Sara Nuru</span>, was announced the winner of the wildly successful reality show that started in America and has now spread to Germany and Canada. The East African beauty beat 21,000 other applicants who auditioned for the show and was named winner at the end of the show that ran for three months.

She was HOT in the 90’s and still has the look that got her into Vogue Italia. <span style="font-weight: bold">Kiara Kabukuru is originally from Uganda.</span> Her campaigns include CoverGirl, Dolce &amp; Gabbana, Moschino, L’Oréal, and Calvin Klein.

She has graced the cover of Vogue Magazine, Vogue Spain, and Amica Italy and has done several editorials. She has been signed to several different model agencies and had a long illustrious career. Not bad for someone in an industry where the lifespan of a career barely makes 5 years.

Ubah Hassan, a Somalian model, was chosen to be part of the historic issue of Vogue Italia which featured some of the hottest names in the model world. She held her own among famous names like Alek Wek and Liya Kebede, and proved she has what it takes to be a model icon.

She signed with Click Management Agency in New York in 2007 and was the model of the week on Models.com in May of 2008. In July of 2008 she was one of the models in the black issue of Vogue Italia (not bad for a newcomer). She closed Ralph Lauren’s spring show in New York and is now part of a Ralph Lauren ad campaign. Busy lady, and we can see why!

<span style="font-weight: bold">Tiguida </span>- Malian Beauty

Tiguida is a Malian model whose flawless beauty has been featured in several magazines and on several catwalks. She has, however, had to deal with the fact that being black in the modeling industry is not always a positive thing and has mentioned, in interviews, the challenges that she faces trying to make it as a black model in an industry that is not very receptive to models of color.

Despite the challenges, she has managed to find steady work, and is a great model. She is currently with Mannequin modeling agency in Paris, France. To learn more about her, visit her myspace page.

She was the leading lady in the movie, Tsotsi, that made history by being a film that won an Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2006. Now Terry Pheto is making her own history as the new face of L’ Oreal Paris, a major international cosmetic company.

This South African beauty had to compete against a hundred other hopefuls for an opportunity to be one of the few black’s to represent the cosmetic company.

A very humble Terry states that ” I’m extremely honoured to be appointed national spokesman for one of the largest leading global cosmetic companies in the world”.

I was waiting for that!

I came upon a website some months back, that featured scores of amazing looking black women, most of whom wore their hair in its natural state... and I was just awed...

Gotta leave for a minute, but will try to find the website if I can and post some picks! Love the ones here though!

She is the darling of the UK fashion scene because of her striking features and gorgeous physique. This super model in the making is simply known as Kadiatu. She immigrated to London from Sierra Leone and has since been seen on the catwalk of such designers as Maame Baryeh, Erzumah Ackerson, Kei and Dollface to name a few.
