i have embraced mine, but me no too like it dow,

I'm almost 50 and over the last year or so, I've JUST started getting a nice clump right in the middle-top of my head.

I color my hair, but not to cover the gray. I just lighten it, so the gray always shows anyway.

ALL of my siblings have way more gray hair than I do. My mom was mostly gray at 36.

If and when the time comes I will embrace it....my mom died at age 51 and she never had any gray hairs...

I can remember my grandmother with jet black hair in her late 60's....she never coloured here hair or put any chemicals in it.

I love my gray. Have always loved my gray. Wanted more gray - specifically a gray patch or streak - since I was young. I think on me gray looks good, and I certainly get lots of compliments on my hair. I don't have a lot, and I think of my gray as 'natural highlighting'!

The thing about not being as "sexy" or "attractive" with gray hair is, I think, largely about how you carry yourself. If you hate your gray and you THINK it makes you less attractive, you tend not to carry yourself with the same self-confidence as you did before you started going gray. It's the same thing with glasses - you know, the whole "men don't make passes at girls who wear glasses" thing. I get as much attention when I wear my glasses as I do in my contacts, I believe because I think I look wonderful either way! Now I know there are some people who just don't find gray hair attractive; I say it's THEIR problem, not mine. I know I look good! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

I'm with you Lynntt. I have few as well and don't have a problem with it. Others do 'cause they say I'm too young for them (not yet 30), but I could care less.

I have a nice little round silvery gray patch slightly right of centre im my new low natural afro, and the sides recently decided to join in, so there are a few there also, and I feel good with them.

Many years ago when I saw the fight my mother put up with hers when she started going gray, and the way her gray were more gray than silver, when she finally decided to let them be, I decided that when my time came, I would never, ever colour them, and I won't.

I feel good and I guess that gives an aura, because I get compliments from both men and women, and I ws sceptical about the low afro at first. There have also been a few anti gray comments, but so what?

I like your comments on this subject. It took me a while to get to like my gray even though I know I had earned the gray as well. From all the chemicals and sweat from the HOT FLASHES, my hair lost its sheen, body and looked like dry all the time. In an earlier thread about hair care, I began to use the Profective products to strenghten the hair and make it healthy again (wore it pulled back all the time which really emphasized the gray) and only recently permed it using Profective perm. I have my hair back again and has grown in but it is gray. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

I will embrace them when they come I'll be 43 soon and have not started yet but my sister who is 8 yrs younger has quite a few. My mom will be 65 this year and her's coming in nicely she has a low low afro and does not color it.

Not embracing mine! My hair started getting it's first grays when I was in my early 20's and I am 39 now. It is now about a 4inch wide skunk stripe down the middle of my head and spreading way too rapidly for my tastes into the rest of my hair.

I don't look good in gray hair and it is not a pretty color gray (at this time anyway) so I dye mine every 4-6 weeks. Yes it is a huge pain in the butt however I am not ready yet to wear it proudly.

My mom didn't start going gray until she was in her 40's. Dad was totally gray by now and bald on top.
