Making a Belt

[Pepper]

I purchased a piece of gold ribbon to serve as a belt.

I went to walmart and had them cut the ribbon off a spool in the fabrics section. So of course, the ends of the ribbon look like they were cut with a scissor.

What can I do to give it a finished look? Sewing is out of the question. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70388-shameonyou.gif[/img]

You could take it to an alteration shop and have them surge the ends.

well u could fray the ends dependin on the kinda ribbon
could glue some beeds to the ends
or just cut it at a diagonal angle and wear it just so. u see stuff in stores with that unfinished look.

Thanks Vegas....mek go back a walmart and see if they have any beads that might work. I have a glue gun....so I am half way there.

Return to the store and just have them use the pinking shears and trim the end.
If you wish a more dramatic finish, purchase some sequins, borrow their glue gun and stick some sequins on, creatively. It won't be that shiny; just for accent.

They should have those at the store...if you ask with a smile. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I have my own glue gun, so I'll just need to find the sequins. And the good thing is...since I am trying to make a sash, I can mess up the ends a couple of times until I get it right. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

Or you could buy two pieces of embroidery and glue them to the ends. Here's a site to give you an idea.
