Can their hair come back?

Isn't wearing the weaves, braids, wigs making it <span style="font-weight: bold">worse</span>?

What do you do in this situation?

This looks so terrible - to me anyway.

Do you just trim it all off as low as possible and let it take time and all grow back in?

Doesn't the hair need a rest - a free, loose and an unfettered rest?

Like wid everything else Yuri ..is nat everyting good fi everybady and everybady circumstance different.

I wear wigs, weaves etc and as long as I take care of my natural hair I see no damage it. My hair was damaged years ago by perms an it is not until I stopped perming and kept my hair natural did it start to grow back to a thick healthy bush it is now. I choose not to wear a natural look in public, hence I go for the next best alternative for me and I can only surmise that models, athletes, actresses, singers, dancers, old people, young people, black and white are making a choice they see fit for them. An even if dem head a peal out ... mi wudden tek dat worry pan my head

Like Wendy said, it depends on how they're treating their hair underneath. Most people I know with weaves have more hair braided up than they ever had prior to getting one.

When Tyra Banks decided to wear her real hair out, even she looked like she had longer hair than when she was a teen and fresh on the modeling scene.

Yuri, what would make you think that them wearing fake hair made their own hair go away? Wigs ain't nothing new.

In all seriousness on the topic, despite what causes hair loss , the question of whether hair follicles can be restored would be perhaps better framed in the context of whether or not damaged/ dying follicles can be repaired to a point where they actually produce new hair growth. The answer is yes. Men and women have sought treatment for that for years. The most popular approved treatment is Rogaine and there is also oral medication to do just that.

So like I said it depends on how a body treats the hair underneath.

When I used to get braids, almost a decade ago, the shop owner had a hairline that was way back on her head. It may be considered a bit rude but I flat out asked her what the problem was. She said tight braids for too many years.

I never let anybody braid me tight after that. Venus and Serena may be from Compton but they got good money. I have often thought they could get better hairstylists, but I doubt they have anybody pulling their hair out.

For sufferers of traction alopecia, the key to curing it begins with changing hairstyling methods. Pulling hair tightly into ponytails or braided hairstyles may trigger permanent hair loss. Surgery

For people with permanent follicle scarring, surgical hair transplantation or flap surgery provides the greatest benefit, notes Dr. Heather Woolery-Lloyd in the journal &quot;Skin &amp; Aging.&quot; In flap procedures, surgeons attach healthy scalp to the affected area. That’s not what I said – please re read the post. I know that wigs aren’t new.

Both ladies seem to have a lot of damage around their edges – but yet they still wear (at least every time I see them) braids, weaves, wigs. It’s rare that I see the actual hair.

I’m asking / wondering, if all of the breakage is being made worse by continuing to subject the hair to the stress of pulling etc, from weaves/braids ... ? If covering up the head with wigs and not letting it breathe contributes to the damage ...

No Wendy – not bashing the Sisters. LOVE what they’ve done for tennis. Highly respect their talent.

Similarly – I saw Toni Braxton a few months ago – in person. She wore her own hair with no aids, weaves, braids, etc.

It is soooooooooooooo thin! I couldn’t believe.

I remember when she first hit the scene and was in the “Love Shoulda Brought You Home Last Night Video” ...

Her hair was very shortly cropped but it look full and healthy.

Now I saw her on tv after her show hit and her hair looks terrible.

And the wigs she wears are sooooo bad! She AND her sisters.
