Pants and the Black church

I should probably post this in Faith and unreasonable but here goes.......

I went to church as a child in JA and nobody as I am sure you know wears pants to church.

I don't go to church here in Canada but I have been invited to go with a GF and I would really like to go.

My problem is I don't wear dresses or skirts...ever. The only dresses/skirts I own are cocktail/formal wear and mini skirts.

My question is can I wear pants? it is a black mostly Jamaican/caribbean pentecostal offshoot church. My GF said it will be fine but I think it is just becasue she will say anything to get me to come. (I am usually full of excuses)

Your thoughts?

yes you can wear pants. a lot of churches have relaxed their stringent attitudes towards make up, pants, perm hear, dye hair, etc. back inna di day pawson wuddan preach bout ie fi days.

by the way, a lang time since mi bukkup inna church, so wait for more informed responses. it may also depend on the type of church. i'm pretty sure seven day adventists wouldn't too much love the pants idea, but agen, not sure.

Tanya mi would ask the GF that is inviting you what the dress code for his particular house of worship may be.

I only say that, because while I dont wear pants to church (that is when I go), I do wear sandals (the nice kind with the heals), and I remember getting "the looks" when I went to visit a friend's church a while back.

You got "the look" for sandals??? OMG and here I thought I only had to worry about pants!!! boy this church going thing is messed up. I did ask my friend and she said what ever I wear is fine, but the last time I went to church with her it was a different church hard core hat wearing Jamaican pentecostal church and I wore the only dress I had at the time [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] very very short sleeveless thing...I thought some of those old ladies in the white gloves were going to have a heart attack. yes. with the doc maartens. we have something in common. i used to have 16 hole burgundy ones. god they were a bi tch to take off.

I wear them to "certain" clubs/bars. If I know there is going to be some brawling I am ready. I swear that was the best $$ I have ever spent on apparel in my life. my only complaint is that after -15 the sole freezes so you end up walking ice on ice [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] voice of experince

Go out and purchase an eye-pleasing suit which you will keep for such occasions...christening, confirmation, birthday celebratory service, wedding guest...and wear it until you acquire the status of wearing -whatever -you- have -as -a -member- without- anyone- noticing- you.

Bypass the pants section...the whole page caught up...focus on the dresses...

Does one ever attain that status in most church these days Shandra?
I have decided that I am going to wear a nice pants and sweater, and if anyone has a problem with that mi ago tell dem fi tek it up wid di higher powa.

I would not dress to disrespect the church but this hard line stance on pants up here inna cold cold cold Canada is to much.
