My henna experience

Very different than de back in the day, mix powder fling in hair and dat is it

So I went to Blackstar's site and ordered the appropriate amount of Henna and Indigo @ hennaforhair.com

Items arrived

Downloaded the instructions (all 8 pages )

1st determined how red/brown I wanted to go - wanted to go a deep brown so did 1/2 henna, 1/2 indigo

Mixed the henna with lemon juice and let sit overnight per instructions

The next day mixed the indigo with water

Then mixed the henna/indigo together.

Application process
Bowl - check, old clothes- check, white towel -check, gloves... one sec
gloves - check, paper towels to clean up mess as it occurs - check

applied the green mud like texture on my hair
wrapped it with saran wrap and a plastic cap over it- total time with product in hair 4 hrs (includes about 2 hrs under the dryer).

Washing out process

Forever under the water to rinse out henna but got the water running clear under mi hair
Easy to wash off the spillage and clean up

Hair felt thicker and applied Cantu Shea Butter Leave in Conditioner - decided to comb out mi hair later

Wrapped my hair in a towel, went to since it was so late

This morning , spritzed water in my hair , applied more leave in conditioner.

I like the color.. a very dark brown

Wore hair up today to offset any staining on my clothes from the henna on my hair.

Was this 2 day process worth it? Yes. Next time I will do it on a weekend so can do nails & ting while it is setting.

I'd like to know how long it lasts also.

My WISDOM (grey hair) is showing up more frequently than the 8-10 weeks I normally color my hair. I loc'd because I did not want prevalent amount of chemicals in my hair.

I am not ready to show everyone how WISE I am, but don't want to color more than two months at a time.

Won't mind so much with the Henna as no chemicals are present, but I don't want to do it on a montjly basis either. How does it work on Grey Hair (not saying that you would know but if you do).

I guess in about a few weeks I will go through the process again and see how long it lasts

Kia, i missed the pics

but i have a question,

i went black a few yrs now, and i am tired of it, want to go back to my copper brown, dat did sooo fit me complexion,

but the hair dresser say, once u go black u cant go back, this cannot be true,

btw, my hair is virgin, all i have in my hair is color/rinse....

I dont know but I did find this site this site about removing the black dye

I am thinking u could use what they recommended and then henna &amp; condition your hair to coat the follicles for a while b4 getting to your desired color?

Kia, your hair came out good. It looks thick and healthy.

I used the powdered henna years ago. I can see the box in my mind but can't seem to make out the label. I think it was Bigen, but that might have been a more recent brand.

You did put in a lot of work though. I don't know if I still have it in me to do all that myself.

thats the dye I use, mostly because it works, when i use the others it dont dye as thorough,

a dat u call henna??? and do all that preparation for??

one time me did bring it to my hairdresser fe she put it in, and she say wid her stuff up self, 'ohhh, thats what u want to use, it breaks the hair' me never believe her, cause she waan charge me so much fe de same effect,
