My skin has beeen going crazy over the past few months dem big a-- cystic acne and what not, doctor give antibiotics and lotions and potions, the dermatologist did say it hormonal so the pill etc etc. which mi couldn't bodda with.

I was using benzoyl peroxide creams before it went crazy and it was doing a good job of controlling. Anyway all of this to say I was talking to someone whose skin looked good to me and she said she was having the same problems and she used a toner in addition to the benzoyl and I must say it has improved. I use the neutragena rapid clear toner ( I used to think my face was clean after I washed it with soap now I am like wth? all that was still on it?). I am now a toner convert.

Mi undastan bout di acne for dat is a monthly fite fi mi but mi feel sey nuh matta hummuch peeple wipe demmaguh still have dead cells pan dem fayce. It suppose tuh help protect from di elements.

I just switched from an astringent to a toner recently. Astringents are more drying while toners generally do not contain alcohol.

I have been using astringent since I was in my early teens. I started out with Clearasil soap, Noxema astringent, and likely Noxema as a moisturizer, but I can't recall exactly which moisturizer, might have been Almay.

I don't have skin problems, but I think that's mostly genes. I kind of consider it a problem now that I don't have a t-zone and have switched to toner lol.

I haven't had a chance to really explore the toner market but I'm using Olay toner for now. I was being somewhat regular on the Clinique system but the Astringent 2 is too strong for me now.

I don't take this extra step so much because I think that dirt is left behind after washing my face, but after years of it, there is always some residue be it from cleanser or grime. I like to get that off before i moisturize.

Wow Gen, you have provided some good info. I'm going to try the witch hazel one with rosewater. I haven't been a big fan of witch hazel but since I now need something milder, it may be better. I had a really good rosewater one that I loved the fragrance but I could never find it again.

If I were going to toss my coin to fate and have to stick with one sight unseen, I'd go with the Kiss My Face or Kiels, but I have time to work out which works best for me and I like testing products.

Gen I printed out your recommended routine which I follow more or less (facials are quarterly for me).

Even in mi ole age, mi get occasional acne and I have oily skin. My facialist says that I should be thankful for oily skin and not to fight it but to &quot;give in to the sheen&quot;

For toner, I use Garnier's grape water vitamin-enhanced toner. No alcohol in it, so I am not tempted to drink it

Over one of them kinda forum where the ppl them who live sleep and eat them kinda things here say rose water &amp; apple cider vinegar make a good toner.

BOAL @ PZ!!! The Garnier one does sound interesting. I remember grapeseed oil used to be good for something when I went through my mixing things up phase.

Twiney, apple cider vinegar huh? When I think about it, I guess it makes sense. Is there supposed to be something good about the pH?
