I know it may not be the greatest but mi have to big dem.
Baby got thrush on her tongue the locals tell me to use glycerine and clean it. Choo mi know dem no always go by wah the doc say mi mek sure ask the pharmasist if i should use it. She tell mi no i need to see a doc and get some antifungal cream etc

Long story short we enede up at a walk in section of the hospital...i tink its a walk in clnic mi no sure...wat surprise me is i didnt have to pay. Mi know di locals get free service at hospital but mi check say since baby not jacan den sheeda affi pay. If a visitor come canada an go hospital dem affi pay. I was very impressed. And i was expecting the meds to be expensive too. I got drops for her and cream for me and it was under $1000jmd

So Vegas. Mi can attest to your feeling towards JA health care system. Like yuh seh, may not be the world's best but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality care I got when I had to go to the hospital my last visit.

Mi ketch some bug the last time I went home and was vomiting for days. Mom was a bit concerned and was asking me if I need to go see a doctor. I replied , No.. because mi a tink di “farrin minded way” dat seh if yuh noh have health insurance do nat tek yuh backside a di doctor or else yuh haffi margige di house fi pay fi di visit.

After the third day of vomiting, Mom haul mi outta di house and she and her husband drove me to the medical Center in Spanish Town. When I got there, we told them what was happening. Mi ask dem how much a di visit and di clerk ask mi if mi have insurance. Mom asked her if she could use her’s and the lady naturally said No. Shi sey mi can pay fi di visit on credit if mi want (she realized I lived in the States) Fretnatian a tek mi now. Mi wanda if mi haffi sell mi cyar when mi goh back home or if mi haffi clear out mi 401K fi dis. Lawd of his mercy pan mi poor soul.

So mi hand ova di credit cyad when shi told me the cost an mi blood pressure went up cause it did soun like plenty money. Mi goh talk to the Doctor and im seh it look like mi ketch virus fram wata or food. Nice man..patient..all lissen to me heart an look inna mi yeye an ting. Long story short im gi mi 2 prescriptions and sen mi fi goh get wan injection inna mi battam ( di sinting did hat yuh si)

Goh a di Pharmacy and pay fi di drugs (they did wonders) When mi credit cyad bill come di following mont mi eaga fi si what di bill gwine come up to fi the hospital and drugs an mi a brace fi di worst! Massi Jesas.. di whole ting come up to $89 US dalla. Now yuh tell mi…. try goh visit dacta in dis country an get injectian and two prescriptions widout insurance and tell mi if it come up to $89?

My copays with insurance in the US would have been at the very least $60 for the office visit and 2 prescriptions. So I would say that $89 was not bad at all.

That's my point.. I got all those services without Insurance for $US89. That just doesn't happen here in the US. I have insurance with a $20 and I have had prescriptions that cost me $50 - to $100 depending on the drug. Imagine if there was no insurance thrown in that mix
