this other coach tell me bout the Silver Comet half Marathon..it in October..when it cool off..the course supposed fi be nice and flat and it far off enough that i could possibly be running 13 miles by then and doan keel over.

no i haven't signed up yet...i just trying to get thru the 10 k first. the coaches seem like they always asking about your next race, and giving suggestions ...in my case that's a good thing.

one of them said i should follow the same training plan as the people that going for the marathon (as opposed to half marathon)..that if anything i can always back off..but i can't catch up. i will probably try it but a marathon still sounds scary.

Strange advice from your coach...

If you are training for a half marathon, train using a half marathon running plan. A full marathon training plan has a different schedule (# of weeks, etc). If you follow the same plan as the people training for a full marathon, you will not reach your half marathon training goal, may end up over training.... The schedule provides you with a half marathon calendar that will guide you in how to train for a half marathon. My advice is to train using a half marathon plan to meet your maximum training potential and race goal.

well she's encouraging me to go for the marathon and not just the half.
the half that i have in mind is 7 months off, so i think either way I will be up to 13 miles by then . Anyway i'll see how it goes.

If you are planning to run a marathon that is 7 months away, typically your training would start no later than first week of July, for 18 weeks of training. Look at that plan schedule; by week 9, you would be ready for a half marathon. If you are planning to run a half marathon 7 months away, your training would start by first week of August for 12 weeks of training before race day.

mi scared of the summer running sake of the high humidity.. the heat mi can tolerate as mi slathered all over with sunscreen but the humidity...whoa!

I'm probably not explaining what she said properly and haven't described the running program that i'm signed up for in detail.

the 10k nearly kill mi

but at least i ran it. 10 striking kilometres, that stopped being fun at 7 kilometres. i dont think i have it in me to run a half marathon. maybe i'll join a walk-run group, those people did well.

u know i saw a race walker in my 10k yesterday and she was moving along at a pretty good clip/

what's a run-walk group? they do walk/run intervals? or is a group for runners and walkers? i also saw a lady doing the 10k in run/walk intervals.

yes, cb. the race walkers go faster than some runners (e.g., me). i also saw pole walkers, which i thought was a bit cheat-y. smaddy told me one time its like having four legs.

a walk run group trains you to walk and run in intervals in distance races.
