You people are nuts. Waxing, threading...it aint right. My one home waxing experience left me scarred for life. And to think I would present myself to someone for them to do that to me...no no no. If your skin has to be prepared for the trauma ('cause that is what it is) it can't be right.

But see yah, mi get this done all the time, it is cleaner, looks much better than waxing. There are salons all over manhattan and since moving to GA mi use to tweese as mi refuse fi duh di wax.

Threading is the way to goooooooooooo

I had my eyebrows and upper lip thread yesterday. The eyebrows didn't hurt at all, but the upper lip - oh my - I was in tears and twitched so much in the seat that the lady couldn't finish it properly.

Two things they could do to improve the service: cover the face with a warm damp towel beforehand to open the pores. Then when they're finished, dab witch hazel or something soothing to close the pores.

Other than that, I am pleased with the results and would definitely go back. And no, I'm not a masochist! I just think the pain will lessen over time. Just like the first time I tweezed my brows, it hurt and now it doesn't faze me in the slightest.

Voilà for my threading experience. </div></div>

Blackstar, the womanw who did mine in NY states that wetting the area to open the pore causes teh hair to soften (because it become saturated) and it breaks under pressure from the thread rather than being pulled out from the root

I told her I get them threaded so she asked if I do it "downstairs". I told her no, I'm from Canada. I asked how much and she pays $10.00. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] I pay $2.99 to get it done here...$3.99 at the most.
