Facial Cleansers

I am looking for a new facial cleanser. Most recently I have used Dr Wexler, tried Nuance by Salma H and now use Loreal's revitalift. All of these are OK, but I for some reason I don't feel completely satisfied with any of them.

I find it annoying that I have to wash my face 3 times to completely remove makeup, and I am a very light user. I also don't get that 'freshly cleaned' feel from any of them. My face feels clean enough, but I would prefer if it my skin felt more refreshed after cleansing.

I am using Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser which is a make up remover and cleanser combined. I then tone, then apply all the other stuff (eye cream, day cream, vit C, night cream) as needed

I like the Neutrogena body wash, thanks for the suggestion.

BTW, what do you use to tone? I do all the other stuff, except tone.

Toner is optional it depends on how well your face is clean. I have samples from a friend of mine who is an aesthestician. Right now I am using a Murad toner

Thanks Kia, you jogged my memory. ILP had posted details on why use toner and based on that I decided that I didn't need it. Maybe I need to revisit...

Neutrogena burns my face so that's a no go for me. Currently I am using Aveeno skin brightening daily scrub. It's supposed to even out skin tone, but I don't see much result in that department. However, just a small bit will remove all makeup without making my skin feel stripped. And it doesn't irritate me. I'd rate it 6.5 out of 10 - great on cleansing, not so much on evening out skin tone.

Will be keeping an eye on this thread for suggestions...

I also use aveno skin brightening daily scrub. they use to have a face wash called positively radiant but seem like replaced by the scrub as i haven't seen it in a while. both wash and scrub works for me as they clean great and remove make up in one go.

Nunya as for the evening out of skin tone i think maybe u need to try the moisturizer, positively radiant daily moisturizer. i have been using aveno line for years now. i use to have darker skin around the mouth and too pale cheeks. now my face is even toned. The cream is a bit pricey IMO its $20+ at Walmart and about 3-4 dollars more at other stores. its worth it though because one bottle will last a year. It is not greasy and doesn't leave u with that shine like wen u granny use rub up yuh face with th grease weh leff pan har han wen she done comb u hair

man i use to hate dat ting. we use to use vasline or dax etc. somehow some always ended up on ur farrid and my granny just spread it out all over

. and come to think of it i have done the same to poor likkle vee last time mi comb har hair. yikes. i need to stop.

btw, I saw a printed ad the other day about re Ambi skin care line, ever saw it? It had cleansers, moisturizers etc. All supposed to even out skin tone... I'd be willing to try that too, as long as it's not as strong as those red and green tube things they had had... just don't know where I'd be able to get it.

your face should feel clean & soft but not "tight", know what I mean ?

do you currently just use your fingers and the cleanser to wash your face ?

you want to gently buff once daily (preferably before bed) in a circular motion, to gently exfoliate and get rid of dirt and dead skin. skin will be clean enough so that your night cream can really penetrate the skin

I would reco one of those buffing/cleaning makeup sponges sold in the drugstore to start with (they are round but not the ones made of cotton balls), and see how you like it and if you notice a difference (which you should).

these can work in a pinch, but I think they might be a bit harsh for the delicate skin on the face. try to find the ones with the "kitchen sponge" texture, they are round and cut very thin like the ones below. them usually white or beige.
