Okay, so we have decided put some african tradition into our wedding and we are looking for a 'theme' name for the event. Any suggestions?

Re: Mi need uno help little
what part of africa would you like information from?
you know what would be awesome if you had a dna test done via the national geographic genealogy project, to help find where your ancestors are from and use a wedding tradition from that specific area If you don't fight for what you deserve, you deserve what you get.

Umoja (oo-MOW-jah)

Excellent theme for a wedding!

hey Kurlie
i'm thinking you will need some unity candles - the ones suggested are black but since it's a wedding - i'm not sure about that
i'm trying to think of a ceremony you can do with both families after you jump the broom
maybe the brides side lits unity candles with the grooms family
are you going to have african drums?
i went to an african wedding and the bride marched in with drum beats - there was african dance also
i saw some great menu ideas to carry on with the theme - do you have your food picked out already?

We are doing the ceremony before we jump the broom.
I am in the process of looking for a cd with African drum beats. I ask my mom if she new anyone who could do it live but she no. Not for me to march to but to play just before we start to march in.
We are going with Jamaican dishes
Can you post a link the a site?

Re: Mi need uno help little
i wasn't talking about the wedding ceremony - of course that happens before you jump the broom
i was thinking of a unity ceremony for the family after the marriage ceremony not long - just something symbolic to join the families together
