I stopped using oils on my hair and noticed a marked difference.
It took my hairdresser awhile to convince me that that was part of the problem cause I thought my hair would be to dry without it.

Once I stopped, my hair was softer (as opposed to brittel feeling) and the condition of my scalp got so much better.

As long as I deep condition it each week I'm good. No dry hair for me. But if I skip then my hand starts reaching for the hair oil......

skin condition..oil promotes the growth of the yeast in me head (which is already excessive)....in turn de yeast leechs de oil outta me hair..hair becomes even drier and bruk awf

Also, I don't put any oil at all on my scalp; it doesn't need any, just on my hair.

Have you tried tea tree oil on the scalp and a vegetable oil on the length of your hair?

Havnt noticed a change in my winter hair cause prolly I dont do much with it </div></div>I use coconut or sapote oil sparingly for my daily oiling. Sweet almond oil is heavy, so I only use it in the conditioner. I'll put a few drops of castor oil on the ends of my hair when it's wet and it doesn't leave a heavy residue.

Jojoba is light, but does nothing for my natural hair although it was good when I was relaxed. Apparently meadowfoam oil and broccoli seed oils are very light and good for curly hair. I haven't tried them yet though. I'm a bit of an oil addict as you can tell, but I'm not buying anything new for now.

I've heard good things about Aveda. Their products are a bit of an investment, but since you can't use oils it could be worth a try, jaded.

Blackstar you got a great point. Even though I know better, I didnt do the math in my head. Coconut oil sounds like something good to try.

It's just where I live you dont have many store options to choose from.

did it kratch yo? </div></div>Same here when my mother used to grease up, grease up my head. As soon as I took over my hair care and stopped putting that nonsense on my scalp, no more build-up, dandruff, or itching.

yep it always did deh..juss wussa if me oil it..

I use this gel based stuff by African Formula..it works pretty well an does not drying like de more alcohol based gels
